onceagain, I sadly haven't seen the show for such a long time, and I've seen it only six times, but I know the feeling of getting really into it. A feeling I'm sure everyone here knows. I've spoken about the show and actors so much that in my high school yearbooks, friends who had never seen the show would mention it just because I spoke about it so much! I think I drove some people absolutely crazy. But I have to say, if there's any show to be crazy about, this is a great choice. Through this show I have met some of the nicest people I know, both actors and fans. It's really been a great experience. As far as reality checks go, this show doesn't need a reality check in my opinion. At least, I don't anyone I know has needed one. :-) We all just really love it.

Audrey, you should totally start that topic! Let's see...I've talked about Jersey Boys with my friend Amy (which isn't weird because we've seen it together three times), my high school counselor, my high school's librarian, my US history teacher, my 9th, 10th, and 12th grade English teachers (actually I was giving my 12th grade teacher advice on what show his parents should see when they were in NY), my Econ teacher, the lady who does my eyebrows, most of my past classmates, some of my new classmates...the list goes on. I'd love to hear what people have to say!

in the scene where Frankie talks about Gaudio writing as song that spoke to the efforts in life "....tried his best and passed the test...", the orchestra is playing music from the song The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore, which is never performed vocally.

What was the song Frankie was actually referring to?

I agree with Lulu. I have seen the show from every angle in lots of theaters. I been able to catch things I have never seen before from each area. I have to admit that seeing Dominic S in NYC from third row center during "Fallen Angel" is something I will never forget.

excellent point, lulu, about the various perspectives from different seats. Different angles allow for different experiences of the black & white footage from American Bandstand and Ed sullivan, for example. Also, during Fallen Angel, left seating allows people to see Frankie's face, but right seating gives a sense of loss/shame since he is largely facing away.

I also find the orchestra experience much different than dress circle or balconey. The final scene when the JB rise from below during Ragdoll is better at orchestra level, but when the ensemble marches on stage as Who Loves You begins, the higher the view, the better.

I, too, stand in shame...haven't seen the show since Christian left last September. But I will see it again. And Audrey is so right...it is different with each cast. Even when a favorite actor has left the show, I find that I might focus on something I hadn't noticed before and so the experience changes. I actually find sitting in different parts of the same theatre changes the experience as well as I find myself looking at different sides of the stage more than others and may notice subtle movements or moments in a different light. In my business, I take phone orders everyday & at least every other day I talk to someone from New Jersey...so you can imagine how often I am able to work "Jersey Boys" into the conversation. Enjoy it, onceagain, again and again and again!

There's no number too high. While I believe that any time you get to experience a show (or movie, or book) multiple times, you get the chance to appreciate more levels, nuances and greater depth, I think this show does have, woven into it, the capacity to be fresh and impactful - each and every time.

The more interested you get, the more you want to know, too (hence my research for the Four Seasons Old Neighborhood Bus Tour
http://jerseyboysblog.com/forums/topic.php?id=570&page&replies=38#post-14780). The Jersey Boys book becomes the book you have by your bed AND on your coffee table - and if you’re really hooked…in your briefcase. For me, it’s a hobby more than a show…a Jersey Boys hobby. (My first real hobby, by the way…maybe my last.)

This link belongs here too, although I’m a little ashamed that my own # (24) has not grown in almost 6 months.
http://jerseyboysblog.com/forums/topic.php?id=123&page&replies=193

I’ve considered starting a topic “Who have you talked to about Jersey Boys? Two days ago, I was accompanying someone for a cat scan and started talking to the nurse about the show. The nurse said his cousin, Rose, took care of Frankie’s boys some years ago. (Now, there’s another interview I need to do for my bus tour.) I used to bring it up about once a day to strangers. I talked to telephone salespeople about the show if I learn they are in a city where the show will be featured. I was talking to a cable tech support guy the other day and managed to get the show into the conversation, somehow. I think he wrote it down.

Even when you haven’t seen the show for a while, the whole experience stays with you. Ces Soirees La is the only reality check I need (that, or any of the OBC making an apprearance :)

http://www.broadwayunderstudies.com <-- not comprehensive, but no one else aggregates like they do

The other times I've gone (usually for the purpose of seeing an understudy), it's been word of mouth from the stage door, or when it was in SF, we'd just look at the board and from that decide whether we wanted to go.

hehehe! In total; could not afford good seats every four days for six months running!

On Molloy's website, the pre-planned dates he will not be appearing as Frankie are listed; that is a VERY beneificial piece of information. Three times I attended only to discover the lead I wanted to see was either on vacation or at another function. How does one find out the same info for the other venues?

I'm approaching my 50th trip ... all bar three (Vegas) being the London show...

Onceagain .. is that 15 times in a month or 15 times in a longer period. My 50 trips have been since mid October last year... you find something you like you just keep going and going and going ... like that bunny on TV .... :)

I haven't actually seen it in Toronto or Chicago -- but the other ones were all correct. :)

I tried to swing Toronto this summer, but it didn't work out. (I am seriously starting to think about Melbourne next year, though. I've gone there before, a few years ago, so I'm not completely unfamiliar with the city.)

If Vegas had a rush policy I'd be IN TROUBLE!

And I'm sure I don't hold a record of much note. :)

I've seen the show nearly 40 times but to be honest, the number is only that high because of the rush policy in San Francisco and the cheap obstructed view tickets in London.

When I LOVE something, I get into it. At last count, as of last Saturday, I've seen the show 15 times.

Is this typical of JB fans or am I getting over-indulged? :)Even the 15th experience was as exciting as the second.
