Nov 4th (Election Night) went to see Jersey Boys (again). I was so disappointed when the insert told me that Dominic Scaglione would be playing Frankie Valli because I had hoped to see Jarrod Spector.

Well, let me tell you I was totally blown away by Dominic. He looks great and sounds even better. He's a real honest to goodness Jersey Boy and I loved loved loved him
in the role. I would say run, don't walk to see him perform!

I was in that show too! And I agree about Dominic. He sounds really great. I, too, was disappointed that I didn't get to see Jarrod Spector, but there's always a next time.

Just saw the show with my wife for her 50th birthday and it was amazing!!....This young man was one of the most amazing performers we have ever seen and we just saw patti lupone in gypsy. He had the same fire as Ms.Lupone.my wife was really overwhelmed when he spoke...he seemed to be so involved in what was happeing to him in this play...we see alot of shows and this was a performance for the record books. I waited backstage for him and asked him how he got his voice to sound EXACTLY like Frankie Valli and he said he listened to alot of the recordings. Folks when i said he sounded like Frankie Valli i mean it was like a recording!....amazing

I know Dominic will definitely be elated when he reads your comments denarro34...I don't think the full impact of his role as Frankie Valli on Broadway has totally hit him yet...having just recently left the Vegas cast...of which he mesmerized!
    We love you Fonz!

One thing I have learned with the show "Jersey Boys" is that the talent runs very, very deep and I have never been disappointed in anyone's performance.

That might be true.....but i don't think like this....i think that he changed the way Frankie is portrayed...we had seen the show in Chicago,New York when it first came out and again on the tour but he seemed to have a deeper more troubled feeling about his acting and his voice was just so big and piercing and he sang with such ease that it made the other voices seem thin and pushed. Now i am new to the blog and after reading the other posts i know that we never talk bad about other performances but i feel i just had to compare to show how amazing this portrayal that Mr Scaglione brings really is...

Denarro34, your comments about Dominic Scaglione prompted me to join the forum and post my first comment. I cannot agree with you more. I have seen the show 22 times now. I have seen all the actors who have played Frankie on Broadway and they're all good, but Dominic is special. I just sold a ticket I had for an upcoming evening performance, because I am only going back to matinees to see Dominic. A talent like Dominic's is very rare. His acting is superb and his voice is spectacular. His voice is very strong and I agree with your assessment that he sings with ease. When he does the seen asking why everybody leaves, he gives an insight into the character that I've never seen before. I've seen the show 4 times now with Dominic and by far he gives the best performance I've ever seen from an actor. Bravo, Dominic!

My wife and I saw the show for the 9th time last week and it was with Dominic Scaglione. We agree completely with the high praise for Mr. Scaglione. His performance is quite remarkable; a gifted, natural talent. We both commented on his vocal range and how strong his voice is. We talked about his performance a number of times since the show and we are glad that he's getting recognized with such high praise. It is definitely well deserved. We had never anticipated that we would want to see the show as often as we have, but with the strong cast and now with the addition of such a fine actor, we'll definitely be back. We have seen the show in Chicago with Cory Grant who also gave an exceptionally remarkable performance. Congratulations to the producers for finding such great talent.

Does anyone know what Mr. Scaglione did before Jersey Boys? Does he perform elsewhere when he's not at the Jersey Boys matinee?

    Hi JJ!
    A few earlier posts:

Dominic was also in a band...
If you have already heard Dominic's voice you will have no trouble recognizing it on the various tracks of an album called "One Voice" by Sygnature on iTunes..Columbia Records..Soul/Pop...apparently the group Sygnature including Dominic's brother Patrick Scaglione, Hayden Hajdu & Paul Lombardo also toured with Destiny's Child awhile back.
Dominic also loves Entenmanns devils food cake with marshmallow icing!

Thanks for the additional information. We listened to the music from the link above. Is his music available on CD and where can we get it? I searched, but can't find it. Thanks again.

Ditto to all of the above. Dominic's talent is off the charts. My friends and I think he's the best Frankie. His voice is so strong he doesn't even need a microphone. He gives the role a different perspective which is very refreshing. The last time we were there he got a standing ovation.

I just saw Dominic for the fifth time (twice was in Las Vegas) and continue to be blown away. I've never seen anyone like him, both his acting and singing are off the charts. It's obvious from the audience reaction that they think so too. At the last show, at intermission all anyone was talking about was Dominic, what his background is etc. I started trying to find out more about him and appreciate the information above. He is special and not sure he can be compared to anyone else because he's in a class all by himself, just brilliant. With that talent, he'll be around for a very long time. Already have a ticket for my next show which of course will be the Saturday matinee.

I must join the posts above in praising the talents of Dominic in the Frankie role. I saw him perform for the second time at last Saturday's matinee, and I also had the pleasure of meeting his family. Because Dominic grew up in New Jersey, there are always many people in the audience who know him. He was born in Belleville, NJ and because of this he brings a real authenticity to the role that no other Frankie can match. I agree with what has already been said that his voice is mighty powerful and it appears effortless for him, although we all know this does not come without alot of hard work and diligence. He has trained with Katie Agresta and he gives a special thanks to her in his bio in Playbill. His parents were present on Saturday along with his aunt and uncle, cousin, and sister. Of course the family is very proud of his accomplishments! They attended his debut in Vegas and now that he is on Broadway, they are able to see him perform more often. His sister is also in the profession, and has recently performed in an Off-Broadway play. Dominic got a standing ovation throughout the audience for "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." I urge everyone to see him perform if you haven't already, and I look forward to seeing him again as well.

Hmmm...don't think the JLY folks would agree.

I don't care who is in the parts...I just want to see the show again and again!

Thanks everyone for sharing these glowing reviews. I will make a point to get to a Wed. matinee very soon- maybe this month. Like Beverley and many others, I'm a huge JLY fan (did I mention HUGE?!), but of course I'm VERY anxious to see other great talents as well- Dominic, Jarrod and hopefully Russell Fischer, too- if I get a heads-up when Russell will be in as Frankie. Since these three guys have local roots coming into the show, I wonder if the existing fan base might make SR and cancellation tickets a little tougher. Glad to have had the chance to see Rick Faugno in Vegas, too. I'd love to get back there for a repeat performance. Make that- a couple of repeat performances!

Like Audrey, I am also a huge JLY fan and always will be. However, I still love to get tickets for the show to see the new cast members and what each one brings to the role. In reading some of the comments that Charly brought forward, other people also took notice of the powerful voice that Dominic has and he definitely could become a lead Frankie in any JB company including Broadway. I have not yet seen Jarrod, but I have a ticket in a couple of weeks to see him. I also found the acting of Matt Bogart as Nick Massi to be quite unique. He has a pronounced accent with a very deep speaking voice and the audience has reacted quite favorably to him both times I have seen him perform.

    Beverley,

You will LOVE Jarrod's performance!! I saw the show again last night, and he continues to amaze with an incredible voice and great stage presence. The new cast has really come together beautifully, and continues to infuse the show with incredible energy. Dominic Nolfi in particular, is coming into his own as Tommy, and shines on stage. I have heard wonderful things about Dominic Scaglione, and look forward to seeing him at some point in the near future.

    Pam,
One of the JB male ushers I have gotten to know also told me I would love Jarrod's performance. He said I would see alot of similarities between him and JLY, so I am looking forward to going Thanksgiving weekend.

I sure hope he has his own personal style and not a copy of JLY.

phillygalg, you're from Philly. Isn't it true that Philly people have their own personal style? You will love Jarrod's style.

I think we all have our own personal styles. The only change I see as I get older is a little more freedom of expression without feeling guilty. I am looking forward to seeing the show and everyone in the cast. I can't believe that I will be in NY for my birthday with my best friend in the whole world (who has never seen the show) and 3rd row center for the "Jersey Boys"....be still my heart.

^ Jarrod Spector is really someone to watch. A great majority of regulars love him for good reason. Plus, I'm sure he vastly improved even from his move from Chicago to New York. I remember being highly impressed with him when I saw him in Chicago over the summer. His acting became so much more phenomenal and intense than from what I remembered seeing in San Francisco. If there's anything to point out right now, his "Fallen Angel" scene was great. His singing is VERY VERY smooth and he makes it sound so easy and effortless.

If the cast change rumors are true, then I'm for sure excited that he's the one I'm seeing in New York the next time I plan to see it on Broadway.

To get back on topic, I would totally see Dominic too. And if I knew that Taylor would be covering for Frankie or Hal Miller, since those are the only roles I've never seen him in.

Loved this play! Funny thing is I never liked the music of the Four Seasons. Saw the Saturday Nov. 29 matinee. While all the "boys" are talented, Dominic Scaglione really stood out. Actually got chills when he did his solo of Cant take my eyes off you. He really nailed it! I have not experienced that kind of energy and passion in a performance since Hugh Jackman in Boy from Oz! Hope to see Dominic in future broadway plays. Actually hope to see Jackman too, movies just don't showcase his great talent!

I joined this forum to post after seeing Jersey Boys for the first time last Wednesday and boy, was Dominic A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Spoke to a couple of die hard fans at the show who have seen the play multiple times and they said by far, Dominic is the best Frankie. Checking out clips online and after purchasing the soundtrack, they are correct! Loved Dominic Nofi too! The whole cast was great. Cathsann you will NOT be disappointed!

I think Dominic has a 6 month contract on Broadway which began the beginning of October. I can't imagine why they would want to replace him. All the reviews of his performances are so positive. Maybe he will get an extension.
