It was looking grim Saturday night as Charly, Linda Soo Hoo and I waited while Vanessa stood in the cancellation line trying to get a ticket to see her very first performance of Jersey Boys with Jarrod Spector. Oh, this man is special to Vanessa. She saw him perform at the Emmy Awards last year and was hooked. Alas, she could not get to Chicago to see him perform and so saw other cast members perform as Frankie but still she had the yearning to see Jarrod. And so, we wait. Twenty minutes go by, thirty minutes go by. Linda Soo Hoo screams up to the mezzanine and Charly and I are left with Vanessa and we just won't let it go. Charly overhears a lady next to her saying she has an extra ticket. Being a seat connoisseur, Charly asks the lady where the extra seat is located. She says row B6. I holler (very lady like) for Vanessa to leave the cancellation line and come over. She is terrified to lose her place as she is #2. I tell her get over here. The lady is willing to sell her ticket to Vanessa but Vanessa does not have enough cash on her. As I reach for my wallet, the lady hands her the ticket and says here, this one's on me. And that is how Vanessa got to see Jarrod Spector for her weekend birthday for the very first time. And we promised to mention on the Blog that this lady is from Atlanta, Georgia. And we are still laughing because we don't know why Charly asked the lady where the seat was but second row ain't too shabby. I believe in Karma because Vanessa is the one who bought Charly's donated ticket last year for BCEFA.

I never get tired of hearing wonderful JB stories like this. The Jersey Boys family is truly ubiquitous, and really look out for each other. Vanessa, happy belated birthday. So glad you got to see the show with Jarrod, whose performance is amazing. Would love to hear what you thought. Thanks for sharing, Linda!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. =) As mentioned, the cancellation line wasn't looking hopeful, and I was more than ready to read a book at Starbucks while waiting for Charly and the Lindas to finish the show. But thanks to this very nice lady from Georgia, I got to see Jarrod from second row! I could not have asked for a better birthday experience...
He is so darling! I told him this story afterwards at stage door, and he was just as amazed as all of you. :) Looking forward to seeing him on Broadway again soon!Posted 4 years ago # -
Nice story. And a nice blend of ladies, as well! So, Vanessa, did you end up sitting next to this special lady sent from above?
As to why Charly asked where the seat was... I understand, because even when you're desperate, you still need to know. I don't know about the rest of you, but it seems that us diehard fans generally end up in the range of seats we want. Not since my early days, have I sat in some obscure part of the mezzanine. It seems like the ticket gods have determined that I've paid my dues (and then some) and now manage to always sit in the orchestra section. (I look forward to the day when the ticket gods think it's time for me to move up to PREMIUM :-)A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY Vanessa. Hope you had a great day after a nice weekend.

Hey Audrey, you're not late, you're early. Vanessa's b'day is tomorrow, on Wedneday.
It was an amazing turn of events and a great way to end a fabulous weekend. It could not have happened to a nicer person.
Happy B'day, Vanessa.
