There are sure to be significant cast changes before then (and there'll be a few before the next few months are up), so it's pretty much impossible to predict who'll still be in the tour over a year from now.

Funny, the tickets for Boston are more expensive than the $122 Broadway seats. Same thing for the CT show.

Supply and demand? smaller supply of dates, bigger demand, maybe. Travel related expenses, plus... advertising expenses can't be shared by a million tickets- so to speak. (I hope to see them in Conneticut :)

I'd planned to see the show in CT and Boston - both a quick drive for me, but when I saw the ticket prices, I thought "I'll stick with NYC" that's even easier, I don't have to drive the whole way!!!

Looks like someone had a little confusion between the "M" and the "B."

If they're gonna confuse M's with B's, they could at least do it better suited to the show. Like Nick Bassi. Or Mob Gaudio maybe.

Did Joe Bwarie really open Jersey Boys in Las Vegas?! I was there for the first preview last April, and Rick Faugno was Frankie, an amazing performance, I will add. :))

Thanks for clarifying, Leanna and Charly. Yes, last April was a fabulous time. Wish you could have made it last weekend. It was another whirlwind, spectacular few days!!

I'm thinking of heading down to see the tour cast before they leave Boston. As much as I love the show, I can't afford to dish out an extra $15US for service charge fees, especially for seats way up in the last row of the balcony that are already "expensive" (ie. would be able to get orchestra seats with that kind of money) enough.

Anyone know if they have student tickets or rush seats (day of)? I was told that the theatre has obstructed view seats - how much and how bad are they? I've seen the show enough times to not care too much about the view.

    Thanks in advance!

I purchased premium seats for $200 per seat via Telecharge in March for Boston and found our seats were partially obstructed which was not disclosed to me when making the purchase. Our seats were Orchestra Right A 6 & 8. The couple next to me paid $94 each and were told that they were obstructed when they purchased their seats the day of performance. We missed everything that was stage left on or under the catwalk. Since you've seen the show, those seats would be adequate for you, however the price is quite outrageous for obstructed seats in my opinion. All I can say is good luck.

Wow, Kibbee, that sucks. Have you thought about submitting that to The Consumerist?

Leanna, Thanks for the tip. I did send a letter to the House Manager at the Shubert and am awaiting a reply. I don't know what else to do. I chose to purchase premium seats and I don't mind paying the money IF they are premium seats. These clearly were not.

I always thought they had to tell you if the seats are PV/obstructed. If this not true then who is protecting the consumer?

I have only gotten the obstructed view information when I purchased my tickets directly from the theater box offices. I got my tickets from ticketmaster for Atlanta and the first two performances I was in the right orchestra which I thought would be fine but found I had the stairway in the show blocking my view. Luckily I had premium tickets for the last performance and was 4th row center which made up for the previous two performances.

Hi Phillygalg, I am sorry to hear that about your Atlanta seats. I think it is just plain wrong to not inform the consumer that they are purchasing PV seats. How is one to know how to choose their seats in an unfamiliar venue? I would be really upset to pay the prices Kibbee paid and probably you as well and end up with an obstructed view. I realize we have no control over who sits in front of us but when scenery/set design or the theater design interferes with a patron's view of the show, something should be disclosed somewhere and the price of the ticket should be comensurate with where the seats are in the theater. Not all orchestra seats are the same. I am not a real savvy theater goer and I don't know the ins and outs of the things that people talk about on this board but I do know what one should expect from paying top dollar for theater seats and it isn't an obstructed view. Perhaps if I were not such a fan of the Jersey Boys it would not matter so much to me but I will be very careful next time I choose my theater seats.

If there's any doubt about obstructed view, and there's any way to reach a live person at that venue, I'd call them first to make sure. If their main ticketing line just forwards to telecharge or Ticketmaster, call group sales, since (during business hours, anyway) there's ALWAYS someone there.

Although the venue should be providing the info, it's good to be skeptical sometimes. :)

Long example: When Les Miz came back to San Francisco the most recent time, it'd played here several times before, each time in the same theatre. Before tickets went on sale, I asked about availability of obstructed view seats in the box seats, since they'd been offered before and at a discount. They told me until the tour actually got there they couldn't actually "know" whether they'd be obstructed, despite the fact that the theatre's configuration and the show's set had not changed at all. I assume this was a technicality but didn't ask. (I guess it is possible that some shows come back slightly different set-wise, but there's probably a good dose of CYA as well.)

So there's a possibility that venues currently selling JB tickets don't know well in advance whether or not a view will be obstructed because of the set, but if it has to do with the architecture of the theatre, then those seats should always be listed as obstructed view. And you should always tattle to Consumerist. :)

Thanks TCarol, Phillygalg, and Leanna for your comments. I am "tattling" to anybody in a position to do something...including Consumerist.
