Hi, churchers,
I often went to the show by myself. It is not too difficult to get a single ticket. I love sitting up as close as possible so I can see all the "nuances" of the acting. If you don't want to spend tickets for Premium seating (center Orchestra, approx. first 12 or 13 rows), and first few seats on each side from the aisle, I often got a seat like A or B 7 or 9, or 6 or 8 (which may be partial view, but it didn't bother me because I had seen the show so many times), which were regular price seats but very close to the stage. These definitely were my favorite seats since I could see everything "up close and personal." SInce all of the OBC knew me, the bonus of have some of the cast wink or wave to me as an audience member was thrilling. IE

As Irene stated, I also like to sit up front, but without paying premium prices. Therefore, at the box office I am able to get my favorite seats, A5 or A2. The front row has more leg room than in any other row. There are also seat cushions located at the back of the theater on the floor by the standing room only stalls. The cushions will bring you up and give you a better view. Also, I have noticed recently that there are no people waiting for released tickets. In the past, there used to be as many as a dozen people waiting for these tickets. Recently there has been only one or two people. You can get center row orchestra seats that ordinarily are premium prices for regular price. Give your name at the box office, and if you don't mind standing for awhile, these tickets will be released for purchase just before the play begins.

Hi Churchers,
Thought I would add on to my friends Irene and Beverley's advice re how to get good seats. I too often went by myself to see the OBC, and never had a problem getting a good seat either the day of, or several days before the performance. The box office often puts these 'house seats' (ie premium seats, or seats left open for VIPs) up for sale at regular price a few days before the show, if they cant sell them.Single seats are the easiest to get. Dont be deterred if the box office tells you a week beforehand that there are no seats for a performance. Try again a few days before the show, and you should be able to get a seat. Weeknights and matinees are easier than weekend nights, so you might want to be flexible about when you go.Any inconvience is WELL worth it !!

thanks everyone for the advice..pay day comes around soon,so im going to pre book..i have to have those tickets in my hands before we fly out..just to make sure i got some..couldnt risk getting all the way there, and not being able to see the show..id love to see it in NYC,just to compare it to ours.(can anyone better the great Glenn Carter?)..plus i hear you are a lot less refrained than us brits.(me not included!) once again thanks for the info..and am i correct that telecharge.com is the best website to buy them from?..

We went New Year's Eve to the matinee. Got there at 11 am for a 2 pm show, planning to wait and get tickets in the cancellation line, (which I had never done before). I think from now on, that will be the only way I'll be getting my Broadway tickets. Great seats, standard price.
The wait is not a deterrent for me at all, since we're indoors. It wasn't till about 12:30 that someone else got in line behind us. Like us, they were also able to get great seats. (Don't think anyone else came AND I don't think they had more tickets for sale after 1:15.)
I know it's really scary to come from England without tickets, but if your nerves can stand it, it is definitely the way to go- we were in the fifth row, center!! They were selling a FEW other tickets that day to people just walking up to the b.o. Those other tickets were in the orchestra- certainly as good or better than I'm usually able to get via telecharge, etc, but I wanted REALLY good seats this time. I wanted to see Dominic up close.

hi audrey..i think thats the problem..i dont want to come all that way and then not be able to get tickets..plus i wont be able to stand around in queues as paul and katie will not want to wait..theyre already fed up with my jb addiction as it is..let alone having to put up with it whilst we are on holiday..so im gonna wait til the end of january for pay day..and then book..may be more expensive, but think it will be the best way for me..thanks for all the info tho!..

nancy...you have just made my day..thought the seat might be bad,,which was why it was left..then no one had replied to my blog..thought you were all too scared to tell me it was a naff seat..but then i remembered the time difference!..cheers!

churchers, seat 9 is on the left orchestra. my apologies. i was thinking D109, which is the middle. if you want to see it again on your trip, you may try as other have suggested by going to the box office a few days before or on the same day. the first 2 times i saw the show was by visiting the box office and i was able to get the center orchestra rows G and K.

nancy:no probs..ive sat in the front row at the prince edward, which is suppose to be restricted..but i love it..seen the show more time than i have admitted to my old man..so im sure the seat will be fine..as long as im there thats all that matters..

Hi, all. We have 1 extra ticket for a show this week from a person in our party who has a family situation and is unable to attend. Usually we can sell it within our circle of friends, but no takers so far. If anyone has been in this situation and has any thoughts on how/where to sell an extra ticket for regular price, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

nyjb,
If you don't get any takers on the blog, I have had luck selling a ticket inside the lobby of the theater to a person who was waiting in the cancellation line. It is a little easier to sell 2 tickets because people usually see the show as a couple. However, I lucked out the one timeI needed to sell a ticket, as there was a person who was seeing the show alone. You can also let the box office know you are not using the ticket, and they will give you a number to call, as any unused ticket can be turned in and used for a future performance. Although, I have never tried doing this before.Posted 4 years ago # -
Nyjb, so what happened today with the ticket? Hope it worked out.

We're trying to see the show this Saturday matinee but it's saying sold out. Do you think we'll have a chance for same day tickets or can you recommend a time to get there for SRO? thanks.

For one of the 10 Standing Room ($25 tickets), which go on sale two hours before curtain, I'd say to get there about 3-4 hours before curtain. For regular priced, cancellation line tickets, I'd say to get there about 2 hours before curtain time--you might be waiting right up till showtime. Obviously if it is REALLY important - get there even earlier to be safe.

I understand Broadway has some student tickets for the SRO price. The ones I heard about were far sides, maybe first several rows. A great price and with a seat!
