Great video !! Loved seeing the La Jolla cast performing. David Norona sings beautifully, looks like he was an amazing Frankie. Melissa, I had the same thoughts about Peter's wig!

I loved seeing this and it is so amusing to see how polished the show has become. And seeing the early Steve Gouveia is a real treat.

It was so wonderful to see this! I loved David Norona as Frankie when I first saw the show in La Jolla in 2004. Yes Pam, he was wonderful! It was so fun to see the show again on Broadway with pretty much the same cast as in La Jolla and to see the changes that were made within the show. Of course, the change of actors too, from David Norona to JLY and Sara Schmidt and Erica Piccininni coming into the show as Francine and Lorraine. This experience is something I'll treasure always and remember for the rest of my life.

Nice -- thanks for that, Leanna! I think it's a safe bet that most JB fans never saw Norona - I agree, I like what I see of him in these clips. Wouldn't it be neat if he rejoined the show at some point? What are the odds?

^ Why, I am truly offended by that comment! How dare you say that about David Norena's voice? Have you even seen David Norena at the end of the run? I am sure that fans of the La Jolla cast beg to differ!

Why oh why do we have to take a positive forum item and turn it ugly. I don't care if you all say you are kidding. I had a friend that old me that any one that adds "just kidding" to the end of a comment really knows they mean what they were saying. Enough, enough please. This blog is about the most wonderful show I have ever seen. A show that has gotten into my heart and soul as have most of the JB pals I have met. I hate to see the show and all of the talent tarnished due to the ego's of the bloggers. I want to say thanks again for this clip. I was always wondering about the "beginnings" and now I have had a chance to see a little of the history.

FACT = David Norona (not Norena)did have vocal problems during the La Jolla run. Yes I was there, yes he did blow out his voice. All true.

I asked my computer to download. It seemed to be cooperating just fine, but then- failure and I'm not sure why. We need to designate a few people here to act as archivists. There are several videos which seem to have been lost, like the one of Bobby Spencer on the show's website several years ago- I miss that one.

Never really paid attention to this until now, but I watched it last night, and I really liked to hear how things were back then. it's cool to see how much things like the costumes have changed and stuff. Made me smile a bit to see the evolution and how they weren't sure about their Broadway then.
