I know this is LONG overdue, but I thought I would write a little review on JB Toronto :) [Sorry for taking so long, Charly :D] I've seen the show with the JB Canadian cast in Toronto over 10 times, but I'll only write general stuff regarding the show in this review! :)

This is a brilliantly almost fully Canadian comprised JB cast! The only American in this cast is Quinn VanAntwerp (who plays Bob Gaudio) ;)

Jeff Madden plays a phenomenal Frankie Valli! His acting as Frankie is one of the best that I've seen in any JB company (I've seen 5 JB companies). His voice is incredible as well! He goes from his normal singing voice into his falsetto effortlessly. I would say his acting is the most intense during the sit-down scene and the "Fallen Angel" scene. Jeff's chemistry with Jeremy Kushnier (who plays Tommy DeVito) is fantastic, especially during the end of "My Mother's Eyes".

Jeremy Kushnier, who plays Tommy DeVito in the Canadian JB company (and he was also part of the touring company for a while when they were here in Toronto) is always consistent and FANTASTIC! The way in which Jeremy plays Tommy, you can never hate him, even though he screwed up the group badly, you can never really hate him; he's the 'bad guy' that you'd hate to love! ;)

Quinn VanAntwerp plays Bob Gaudio in the Canadian JB company (although he's not Canadian, but that's perfectly okay!) He took over the role of Bob Gaudio after Derek Krantz. I would say that Quinn's performance as Bob reminds me a lot like a hybrid between Andrew Rannells' Bob + Daniel Reichard's Bob! :D... but of course, Quinn brings something special to the table as well! His "Cry For Me" and "Oh! What a Night!" are spot on! His onstage chemistry with Jeff and Jeremy are just so amazing to watch.

Michael Lomenda plays an awesome Nick Massi. His facial expressions are purely priceless, especially right after he says the phrase: "When there's four guys, and YOU'RE Ringo!"; he ALWAYS incites a huge laughter from the audience with his facial expression. Michael's towel monologue is EXCELLENT! His bass voice is also very good! :)

Shawn Wright plays a fabulous Bob Crewe! His "all my body parts are outstanding young man... young, young, YOUNG, YOUNG MAN!" doesn't incite as much laughter from the audience as when Jonathan Hadley from the touring cast does it, but Shawn's emphasis of "the stars are in alignment", "when Mercury's in Taurus" and "I did Frankie's chart: his moon is in Taurus" produces the biggest laughter.

Adrian Marchuk plays the alternate Frankie Valli (on Wednesday and Saturday matinee shows). He is a purely amazing Frankie Valli. He is just as great as Jeff Madden. Adrian's voice and falsetto are both very beautiful!

The Canadian cast of Jersey Boys is top notch and equals any and every company of Jersey Boys there is out there! :) All the actors are OUTSTANDING!! Here are the list of actors in JB T.O (aside from the Four Seasons and Bob Crewe):
    - Adrian Marchuk -- Alternate Frankie Valli
    - Jennifer Copping -- Mary Delgado
    - Bryan Hindle -- Joe Pesci
    - Jade Elliott -- Norm Waxman
    - Timothy Sell -- Gyp DeCarlo
    - Lindsay Thomas -- Francine
    - Elodie Gillett -- Lorraine
    - Gabriel Antonacci -- Handsome Hank
    - Joe Matheson -- Billy Dixon
    - Matthew Brown -- Barry Belson

The musicians in this JB company are just AMAZING!! Special props goes out to Stephen Broadhurst who plays the drums! ;) The sound encompasses the theatre really well, and the talent in this JB Canadian company is truly PHENOMENAL and EXCELLENT!!!
If you get a chance to see this amazing JB Canadian cast, please do! It is something you should definitely NOT miss!! The Canadian cast does not disappoint!

I hope all of you enjoyed by JB Canadian cast review! Sorry for making it so long! :D

Does anyone have any idea how sales are going??
I am going back to Toronto in July and hoping to catch the cast, but I haven't heard anything about ticket sales. Can anyone enlighten me?

It's been extended until end of June right now, but will most likely extend through to the summer, if not into early next year, though not all at once.

They have rush seats available now, two hours before the show, for $20 on weekdays, and $25 on weekends. However, I'm sure Dancap is hoping that the show will pick back up during the summer months (when I have gone to see the show, on occassion, the balcony has been closed), and they may eliminate, or limit the number of rush seats available.

I have only seen the Toronto cast one time, first preview night, so I am really interested in seeing the progression and the new cast members since then. Will keep my fingers crossed for an extension through the summer!

I'm almost 100% sure that they will extend through/past the summer! :)
And the cast has really improved since the preview shows! :)

Oh really, Flainers? Can you tell us more about that? :D Will he or she be taking over a lead role? :D Or will there be a new addition to the JB Canadian cast?

JB Toronto: Sales are going steady - now more people are taking advantage of the special pricing for certain dates.

If you can get 8 or more people together, remember to ask for the one flat booking fee, $15 a group, so you don't pay the $7.50 fee per ticket.

Call DanCap directly to book... May Victoria weekend (NOT the 24th weekend) - top notch seats will be $50 ... tell your friends! Make a day of it!

Restaurant - Baton Rouge, will take $6 per parking receipt off your bill, per entree ordered, if you've parked at 5000 Yonge in the underground garage there. Making your parking free.. ($6 is the parking fee for event / show days). Don't forget to take the rec't part of the parking printout into the restaurant and leave the other part on the dash of the car!! Sounds obvious, I know. You'd be surprised what some people do!

Show: Extended now until June 28th.... and hopefully will be further extended
    later! :)

As long as Jeremy Kushnier is staying in the cast, I will be a very happy woman!

    Drums:

Remember there are 2 drummers! Their time isn't / can't be equally divided / shared... but you have to remember both are involved & talented...

Kyle Woodring is the main drummer in ORD Chicago JB. Most talented drummer we've ever evaluated... and there's been many. He also plays other gigs with Michael Ingersoll, great tenor / baritone voice who is Nick Massi in Chicago's JB cast. A role he plays BRILLIANTLY.

The drummers that we have in the JB Canadian cast are: Stephen Broadhurst (the main drummer) and Jade Elliott (who plays Norm Waxman).

Is there any news regarding the new cast member in July? Will he or she be a new addition to the cast? or is someone being replaced? :D. If any news/info can be shared, that would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks for the info, Flainers. Are you allowed to say which cast member is leaving? And who might be replacing him or her? :D

This is my first posting, primarily to thank Frances for the great review and for putting JBToronto back on the map! A fabulous show with an outstanding cast. I was at today's performance (my 7th time)and everyone was superb. Jeff was wonderful - his Fallen Angel brought me to tears (again). Jeremy, as always, was charming, funny and perfect in every way. Quinn (I was happy to see his hand "sans cast" has healed) was 100% - sweet, smart and talented. Like Frances, I also love Michael's facial expressions, plus his Jersey accent, his intonations, and his emotional outbursts - just great!

I am now very curious about cast changes....more info please!

Many thanks to all of you on this board for enhancing the JB experience for me.

Thanks for the kind words, Bnzbb! I'm glad you liked my review! :) And welcome to the JB Forum, by the way! :)

Since you've seen the JB Canadian cast 7 times, have you gotten a chance to see Grant Tilly (one of the swings and 1st understudy for Tommy) go on as Tommy DeVito? I've always missed my chance to see him as Tommy, but I would love to see him play that role one day! :)

And I would like to know more about this cast change as well! I think we'll just have to wait and see :(

Frances - I've not seen any of the understudies/swings in the 4 lead roles - so, to answer your question, no, I've not seen Grant Tilly play Tommy - but I understand he did a great job bridging the Gaudio role until Quinn took over. Swing Victoria Lamond was on as Francine on Sunday and she was terrific - My Boyfriend's Back looked and sounded amazing too. The cast is so talented - I'm sure they'll all get opportunities to shine and we'll be there to appreciate their efforts and cheer them on.

I got to see Grant Tilly in the role of Bob Gaudio the next day right after their New Year's Eve performance, and he was terrific! A bit short, but that's okay, haha! :)
I would love to see Jade Elliott (who plays Norm Waxman) take on the role of Tommy DeVito... I think he would be FANTASTIC as Tommy (he's the 2nd u/s)! :)

Elodie Gillet (Lorraine) is actually the Angel soloist when Victoria Lamond is on for Lindsay Thomas.

Are you able to give us anymore info or updates regarding the new cast change that's supposed to happen in June/July? :D ;)
