Maybe they're making this an annual thing. Ha.

I've looked around a little, but I can't figure out anything for sure. Leanna, I think it's time for you to take over!

Wow--what a great surprise if the Jersey Boys perform. Harry and I will be there to cheer on Bobby. Anyone else from our great group going?

That would be great! Fun seeing Jarrod perform in the Broadway cast! I have to admit, I've been a bit sidetracked with Adam Lambert on Idol - amazing performer!.......but I still love "Jersey Boys"!!.......don't kick me out - I love you all!! :)

One of the cast members of Next To Normal confirmed that they will be performing "You Don't Know" which features Alice Ripley and "I Am The One" which features J. Robert Spencer and Aaron Tveit on the Tonys. I'm so satisfied with their choice. It may not feature the other Tony nominee Jennifer Damiano who is also incredible in her role, but it's such a powerful number. Be sure to watch!

Thanks for the info, Nadia. I just came back from the free seminar/performance by the writers, producers and cast understudies of N2N. There was also a long Q & A period and the group remained to speak privately to the attendees. It was amazing to learn that the writing of N2N took ten years (between other projects of course) and hear the genesis of how it opened on Second Stage then went to DC to retool and then came back to Broadway. And yes, Michael Greif, the director of Rent, directed. Seems Alice Ripley was a major factor in the evolution; had she wished to abandon the project at any time, it probably would not have come back to Broadway.
So glad they'll be performing at the Tony's. I have another very favorite song of Aaron Tveit (performed tonight), but it would be a plot spoiler unfortunately.

I wish I could be at the Tony's, but sadly, that is impossible for me. I will be watching faithfully on my TV and cheering for J. Robert Spencer! I love "I Am The One." I obsessively listened to so many of the N2N songs for several days after the nominations. N2N is my favorite of the nominees, and Bobby Spencer sounds wonderful!

I was always under the impression that only Tony nominated shows of that year were the ones performing.
However, it would be nice if they did Jersey Boys as a commercial bumper ("We'll be back, after these messages") again.

Jersey Boys did perform two years ago, but it was during the pre-show.
Also, I think the (first?) year Rosie O'Donnell hosted, they did a giant montage of several shows which had already been open for a few years.

Here's what I heard. The Bway cast will be performing a medley. There will be special guests who will join them. Other existing shows will also be performing medleys from their shows.

I'm so excited to see Jarrod on TV again! Thanks, KJ.

Here's what I got from a cast member today...almost word for word.
"The latest news is that Joe Bwarie & Courter are going to be singing on the Tonys! Along with Rick Fagno and whoever the Frankie is in Chicago! .... I guess the Tonys are doing a tribute to all the tours so all the Frankies will sing Can't Take..."
I hope it's true. It would be awesome and so cool for the fans all over. Can't wait! Rick, Joe, Dominic (I assume since he's in Chi-town), etc. WOW!!!! Let's all cross our fingers and toes.
PS Howard, I'm green with envy!

How awesome! Taylor Sternberg tweeted that he was in rehearsals for the Tonys as well, so it sounds like it might be a full cast. And/or they're including every Frankie alternate and cover -- that'd be pretty nice.

The impression I got was it's all about the Frankies...which is a wonderful nod to each of them. That would explain the choice of CTMEOY. It boggles the mind to imagine the whole group singing it. It will be interesting to see which of the alternates are included... I'm guessing the London and Toronto Frankies won't be there...but you never know. In any case, it should be very exciting!
PS It's great the Tony's are on Sunday evening, so most of the various casts will have the night off and can watch their pals on stage in NYC.

OK...I am confused. Graham Fenton is the alternate Frankie on tour. Courter is the understudy...and there are two performances in Atlanta on the day of the Tony's. Now how does that work??
Posted 4 years ago # -
That would leave Graham as the sole Frankie.
Or maybe they'll go live via satellite? :)

This is the best news! I can't wait.

OMG! It'll be so amazing to see all the Frankies on stage together. I imagine this will be a first. Have to remember to set the DVR.
Howard, I am SO envious. Have a great time.

I am so psyched! A plethora of Frankies! Wonder if Frankie Valli himself will be there as well...
Posted 4 years ago # -
Wonder if JLY (the "quintessential" Frankie) will be appearing?????
Posted 4 years ago # -
Dominic Scaglione Jr is singing from the Chicago Cast
Posted 4 years ago # -
I also heard that the Frankie from the Australian cast will also be flown in to participate. I assume this means the London Frankie as well.

Hi Beverley! Met you on Saturday. (If that was you who I met.) It nice to hear the update/news from that teenager at stage door. :) Can't wait to see the show when it airs. I've wanted to see Dominic as Frankie ever since I read all the raves about him.

For those of you familiar with Next to Normal, where is it in this fast moving clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWCO19fBKO8 ? (Don't blink when it gets to 1:23 ;)

Oooo exciting!

I think SO many Frankie's will radiate show's "SUCCESS" to viewers. The visual will say a lot. Great marketing. I'm looking forward to it.

The Jersey Boys performance will feature several actors currently playing the role of Frankie Valli in various productions: Joseph Leo Bwarie, representing the Toronto company; Rick Faugno, representing the Las Vegas company; Courter Simmons, representing the national tour; and Dominic Scaglione, Jr. representing the Chicago company.
Well, the distribution is a little odd, but there you go:

I enjoyed seeing Joseph in Toronto as part of the tour, but I don't understand why Jeff or Adrian aren't participating as the Toronto company?!
Too bad Ryan Molloy can't join in, now that would be FAB!Anyone know if we can watch them again this year online?? As I am in London there is no way I can catch it on TV.
