  1. Good Evening Everyone!

    Okay, let's see if I can plan my next New York trip a little better this time. The last one was very impromptu. My bad. ^^;

I'll be seeing Jersey Boys this weekend in New York. While I'm aware of the lottery for the show, does anyone have any other tips for cheap tickets? Not that I'm a starving student, I can afford the ticket, but if anyone knew any other sources, it would be greatly appreciated.

Does the New York have any exclusive JB related merchindise?

    Stage door experience, anyone?

Anything else such as eateries around August Wilson or anything interesting or nice to catch around the city would be nice too. I'll be taking my significant other to New York for the first time.

Help would be very much appreciated!

BroadwayBox might help you, but the show is doing so well you're probably not going to find anything. Good luck, though!

In the absence of the Jersey Boys bus tour option :-), I'd say to be sure to see the Brill Building which is so close to the theater. Cafe Cielo is a nice restaurant a half of block away on 8th Avenue.

When you say lottery, do you mean the cancellation line (full price, but well situated) or maybe the standing room only tickets ($26, but standing at the back of the orchestra)?

Have fun! Maybe take the 30 minute train ride to the Belmont Tavern. Here is information on doing that: http://jerseyboysblog.com/third-times-a-charm/2885

Oh right, I remember that now that you're mentioning the mobile lottery, Leanna. (I had time to edit)

There's the mobile lottery. Which is probably just a giant cultivation piece, but who knows...

People do get in line early for the standing room only tickets and there aren't a lot of them maybe 10? Just ask at the box office when to line up. I usually get in the cancellation line at least 2 hours before the performance. Never had a problem getting premium seats for regular orchestra price. So it all depends on how well you want to see the performance, either front or rear based on the price. The stage door gets crowded but the cast does chat with everyone while signing autographs and there's plenty of photo ops as you can tell from what has been posted in JB World. I do not believe there is any merchandise exclusive to the Broadway cast. Have a great time and let us know about how it went when you return.

I have been going to JB on Broadway for several years now. I recently saw something at the box office I had never seen before. About 2 hours before the show, a large line formed outside the theater. It was not standing room only tickets. Instead in this line, you were able to buy non-premium tickets for that performance. Usually these have already been sold by this time of each performance. They still kept back some premium tickets at this time though in hopes of selling them just before the show. Another think I have also noticed is that the line waiting for unsold tickets turned in just before the performance begins is so much smaller than it used to be - perhaps only 6 people as compared to 25 people. You can always now be guaranteed of getting a premium ticket for normal price in this line. JB is still sold out on Broadway, but it is much easier to get a ticket than it was two years ago.

ScarletRhapsody, hope your experience was a great one.

I have a Broadway question, also. I would like to take my daughter, who is away at school, to NY to see JB. It would either have to be during her December break, or the first week in March during spring break. Is it too soon to know how long Jarrod will be there?

I think there are better sources than I, but I heard from one of the ushers that Jarrod just signed again for a year, with a six-month out-clause, whatever that means. It's just rumor, but it certainly sounds as if you're safe for December, KayLee.

  13. Okay, I'm back from my New York trip!

Thanks everyone for all the helpful tips. This was a rather interesting story. I tried for mobile lottery, but we didn't get it. Instead, we ended up watching Chicago. We did get our tickets for a Sunday matinee. The significant other surprised me by treating me.

We had a delightful time! I'll post pictures of stage door fun times. We ended up with Taylor Sternberg as Frankie (looks like Jarrod was out of town, it's cool...seen him a few times before) and Jake Speck as Bob. I'll post pictures once I get everything processed.

I also pointed out the Brill Building to my s. o. since it was next door to where we saw Chicago.

And John Lloyd Young and I were on the same flight to JFK. Yes, that JLY. The actor. Who knew? And Erich Bergen and I were in the same terminal on the day I was leaving for Long Beach. Of course, I found this out when I got home. Why is this cast following me? LOL! XD

Wow, ScarletRhapsody! Wonderful story. Glad it was fun.....and JLY on the same flight/Erich in same terminal....fate! How cool is that?

Okay, we've seen Jersey Boys twice in NYC and are planning on another trip in to see it again. We know that Jarrod doesn't perform for the Wed. and Sat. matinees, but does anyone know if he will be out for vacation or for any other reason? We don't want to see the show without him...he was fabulous!!! Thanks!!!

There's always a chance an actor will call in sick, but it's not like you can predict that.

ScarletRhapsody, that was quite some good fortune being on the flight with JLY!! Did you say hello?

So you got Sunday matinee tickets ahead of time, rather than SR or cancellation tickets? Am I reading that correctly? How were your seats? Let us know when you post the photos.

Kennedy1--if it is very important to you, there is always the option of buying tickets in the cancellation line that day when you can first check the board in the lobby. Great seats, normal price; just the disadvantage of waiting, at most, a couple hours in line.

Thanks Audrey, I may try that. Hopefully, we'll get tickets for decent seats.

Wish I would have read this thread before you went... No mobile student lottery until at least January.

It was about three weeks ago (when you were there) that there was a bug or something going around the cast. Jarrod was out doing "The National Anthem Tour" : ) and Sebastian and Matt were out sick. It was a good thing Dominic was there since he is my absolute favorite.

I'm glad that you had a good time!

So Sebastain was supposed to be there a few weeks ago, but in the interim, Jake officially stepped in--however briefly(?)
