Hello all, I hope you all had a great new year. As I have said in previous posts, I was lucky enough to see the OBC in the beginning and have seen almost all the productions since of this fabulous show. In saying this, I returned recently to broadway with friends who have been waiting to see it and take in the current cast. Here is my report. I was really looking forward to see how far Jarrod has come since Chicago but unfortunately he was not performing the night I was there. Cory Grant played Franki and I must say, he was SPECTACULAR. He has Franki dead on. So if Jarrod ever moves on, Cory is ready to take over. However as Franki says "it goes both ways, the bad passes and so does the good", Broadway is the staple of all the productions and it has to set the bar for the rest and from what I saw, changes need to be made. Now some of you might get on me for saying this, however I am fair in my reviews and this is what I saw. Sebastian is a very good BOB, he has the lines and the timing down. He could give some lessons to Peter Saide in Vegas. Matt Bogart, I really enjoyed as nick. His monotone voice is perfect for the role. Cory Grant, Spectacular, Enough Said. Which leads me to Dominic Nolfi as Tommy. He looks the part perfectly and I know he has been playing Tommy for a long time, but, The lines were off, The timing was off, the jokes missed and it just didn't blend. To the first timer going to the show they wouldnt know the difference, but for us "regulars" it was very noticable. Maybe it was an off night?, maybe he is bored with the show? It was just all off. All the big lines where the laughs are suppose to come, didn't, or weren't as big as they should have been. Moving on, it was great to see Erik Bates as Joe long, Erik played Tommy on the tour and maybe its time for a change. Erik, I always thought was a perfect fit for Tommy, as stated before, he has it dead on!! If not Erik then Devan May from Vegas should get it. He is by far the best Tommy in any of the productions Period!! Not even close, if you go to Vegas, Go see the JB production, you will see what I mean. Overall I am giving the Vegas production a leg up on the Broadway one. I enjoyed the Broadway show but in fairness, maybe I was expecting alot. Nobody plays franki like JLY. Christian was the original Tommy and the best, Daniel is Bob Gaudio and J Robert is still the best nick. Before I forget, I want to give snaps to the Jersey girls, as always, they are the real workers of the show and they did not dissapoint at all, job well done ladies. I respect all your comments and hope for a 5 year reunion show witht he original OBC happens, "oh what a night that would be". Stay well and I look forward to your responses.

I have not seen any of the JB productions other then Broadway.
I've seen the show 7 or 8 times over the last 4 yrs, the last
ones being june, nov and this past saturday night. I totally
do not agree with your opinion of Dominick Nolfi, he was excellent
every time I have seen him as Tommy and even more so last weekend.
I adored JLY also but Jarrod rocks in the role of Frankie, I love
his performance every time, matter of fact I make sure I see an evening
show because he doesn't do most matinees. Everyone is entitled to
their opinion of course but there's mine!!! May JB live on forever,
just like that bunny....keep goin and goin!!Posted 3 years ago # -
Sebastian is back already?

I saw JB just last Friday night and Drew Gehling was Tommy. However, I noticed on the pictures outside the theater that on the left was Drew but on the right side was Sebastian. Is Sebastian coming back? Is he involved in another project? I do miss him as Bob.

I do NOT agree with your opinion of Dominic AT ALL either... I have seen 3 people play Tommy and I think Dominic is the best of the three... Before even reading this thread, I was actually thinking to myself earlier tonight about how I would be so sad if he left the Broadway production because he is so good in the part...

Like I said people it is just 1 persons opinion. I respect all of yours and enjoy them very much. People have off nights and I might have caught him on one. I think all the actors are very talented in all the productions but it was just what I saw. He just seemed to be rushing through it. Again it just might have been an off night, and yes Sebastian was back doing Bob.

If any of you get a chance to see the Vegas production, which I strongly recommend, Devan May is the best Tommy I have seen, hands down. I have seen every production except sydney and he is the best Tommy by far. Like I also Said before I really wanted to See Jarrod but he was not performing. Cory Grant did an amazing job. As always I love all of your comments and enjoy future ones to come

intheair7 - so you've seen Toronto too? Did you see Jeremy Kushnier or Dan Sullivan in the Tommy role? You couldn't have been disappointed by either one! And Quinn VanAntwerp? And Jeff Madden? And the entire cast? C'mon - they're all fantastic. Check out the Fans' Comments on the Toronto website to find out what you're all missing.

Love Jeremy Kushnier as tommy, absolutely fantastic performance. The toronto production was a perfect performance and recommended to all. Once again people, lets not go city by city. All productions are top notch, all the actors are top notch. I am just stating MY favorite. I am sure you all have yours and I totally respect that. So as you should mine.

I've only seen the show four times, twice in New York and once each in Chicago and Las Vegas. Dominic Nolfi was by far the best of the three Tommies. Please, there's no need for a change in that role.

maybe it was just me, but I really didn't like Cory Grant as Frankie. I didn't really like his accent for Frankie and I thought some of his acting was eh. Out of the three lead Frankies we had here, and I guess you can throw JMD in there too, I think Cory was my least favorite. Like I said, maybe it's just me though.

I agree with that... Of the 3 Frankie's I've seen, Cory is my least favorite... He sings well, but on the dialogue, he has an very unnatural accent and he seems to overact and overenunciate...

this is what I am talking about. Everyone has an opinion and I ove them all. Personally I think Travis Cloer in Vegas is a really good Franki.
