I've seen a few.
A few minor line flubs here and there.
Eric Gutman's first time as Tommy, forgot the keys to the Belvedere but him and Chris played it off well. There was another one at that performance that he mentions in his blog. During the scene where Frankie is telling Tommy about the shooting. He switches a few words around in the lines so it sounds like Tommy is going to be making Frankie's wife happy.
Eddie Driscol crashing the judge's table into the stairs at the back of the stage after the court room scene. And at another performance when he was the record exec. He wasn't pushed hard enough to reach the desk and stopped half way so he had to give himself another push with his legs making him miss his cue. He recoverd by apoligizing to Bob for being late to the meeting.
Steven Goldsmith having the mic fall out of his jacket when he sits on the bench before singing "Fallen Angel."
The stool falling down after Drew got off it to head to the piano to play "Cry For Me". It fell near the area where the girls danced so Jenny had to walk over and put it back up.
And some that I've heard of from other fans. Frankie (happned to both Chris and Jarrod) performing with his fly down during the second act, which sucks because he barely leaves the stage so he can't really fix it. And one of the girls heels getting stuck in the tracks for the drum turtles and needing help to get out.
Jenny splashed some of the on stage "alcohol" in Jarrod's face accidently.
Remember when Eric Gutman wrote about how Deven May once said Hank Majewski had "special qualities" instead of "special material"? I saw Deven do that. ;) Just not the same day Eric was writing about. But it was my first time seeing the show, so I had no idea it wasn't the actual line. The guys didn't laugh, or at least I didn't notice.
I remember that posting. I think it actually caught the guys off guard and they had a "what did you say" kind of reaction for a second.
isn't on stage action glamourous and graceful? lol. i love that they can just keep goin' and goin' and goin' despite any mistake. it's easy to make a mistake an drecover from it in this show since the audience is so mesmorized they don't catch on to anything unless they look for it.
jenny's mic went out for a minute during frankie and mary's fight but that was a technical problem. luckily, jenny was still able to deliver her lines perfectly to a whole theater! that girl is T-A-L-E-N-T-E-D!
Jenny can belt it out when she needs to. Every time during "My Boyfriends Back" she almost drowns out Lauren and Lyndsey during the "Hey Las"
I have heard a few adlibs - probably when lines were forgotten. The actors don't miss a beat. IE
I heard Sarah mess up a word during her phone conversation with Frankie. She caught herself really quickly though. It was a good save.
I saw JLY once could not get the lighter to work in the scene at the restaurant with Mary Delgado. I also saw Christian's ring fall off during a scene when he was taking the money envelope from Norman Waxman. He had to move closer to the edge of the stage after he said his lines to pick it up. I also saw the piece of paper with the music for Sherry that drops to the floor almost drift off the stage into the audience during the scene at Frankie's house. Christian quickly grabbed it with his golf club just before it slid off the stage. Once, the intermission was extended because the hydraulic system that raises and lowers the microphones and benches/tables etc. had to be fixed. The one thing I will never forget is during the very beginning of the "Who Loves You Pretty Baby" ending song, a woman in the audience passed out and her daughter yelled out for help. The cast quickly left the stage and someone came out and said the performance was over. Meanwhile there were a couple of doctors who came quickly to help the woman. The people in the theater filed out to make way for the ambulance. I felt bad for the people who attended this show for the first time or for those that might never get a chance to see the show again that they missed the finale. I believe it was reported that the woman was OK.
wow Beverley! Thanks so much for all the incidents you shared w/ us! They're really very fascinating!!! Did JLY eventually get the lighter to work? Christian seems like he's quick to react off of anything that goes wrong. I feel bad for everyone at that performance! The woman especially. I hope she was alright. I wonder if Rag Doll moved her that much. It is a very haunting number. So the cast were singing Who Loves You and they just stopped. Did you get a chance to talk to them at the stage door that night? I wonder how they felt about it.
JLY just gave up, put the lighter on the table, and continued with his lines. Yes, I did talk to the cast at the stage door. They were all very concerned and expressed their hope that she would be OK.
lol. that would've been funny to witness. was it on eof those moments where the audiences catches on and start laughing or was it only to you, JLY, and Jennifer Naimo's notice?
I wonder what it's like to be performing some epic material and have that happen. It seems they reacted kindly to her well being. What a great group of people!
I am not sure if the audience noticed that JLY could not get the lighter to work. When you see the show for the first time you usually focus more on the actors rather than the props, and there was no reaction from the audience as it happened so quickly.
BEVERLY - I think the incident you're recalling is documented on Jen Naimo's blog dated Feb. 27, 2007 titled Is Spring Here Yet? I believe it was a gentleman who was ill?? Check it out and see if it's the same performance you were at.

Yes, I had previously read that entry on Jennifer's blog. However, it was definitely a woman who had collapsed during the performance I was at. Either it got wrongly reported or there were two different incidents that ocurred.
JLY's tie flew off once as you was doing circles on the floor during Beggin'. Gyp picked it up as he left the scene and put it on the little round table he was at. John picked it up as he was headed up the stairs and turned away from the audience a bit more than usual as he walked, sang and put his tie back on.
Last night, instead of saying "We're not gonna to make a record. We're going to make an experience", Crewe said "We're not just going to make an experience..." Daniel didn't miss a beat and went right into his response of "How?"
Christian tells the story about the time that the gun didn't go off in the car. Not sure how you cover up that one, but leave it to these guys to handle it.
Not exactly a flub (not that I would call ANYTHING these guys do a flub), but... there was a cell phone that went off in the left front of the audience during Daniel's final monologue, I think it was, and he turned and quietly said 'Answer that' which got a laugh from those in the vicinity.
Audrey
I was at that performance where Daniel said "answer that" during his ending monologue. It was funny. I always like when he also acknowledges people who let him know from the audience that they are from Nashville. It usually happens most in the summer when people vacation to NYC. That must have been something when the gun didn't go off. I wish I had seen that!
"Answer that."? My hero! :-)
I'm always afraid the gun won't go off, or someone's forgotten it.
Do these guys have class or WHAT?????????? IE
ooh, I love the team work and slyness of JLY's tie rescue.
I can't imagine how they save the scene if the gun doesn't go off! That's really important. Now I'm very curious to know what happened that performance. Seriously, how do you save yourself from that one? The people in the audience were lucky they didn't have it blast off in their ears. That things makes me jump a mile.
It looked like John had ear plugs (that were relective- as if metal) during that gun scene. Right afterwards, the ear things seemed to be gone. It also looked like John jumped before the gun went off last night. I think what may have happened is that Peter shot it and maybe John heard the click and knows the timing- but that Peter had to pull the trigger again for the sound to go off. There may have been a small malfunction. It all happens so fast, it's hard to remember what you saw- hence the problem with witnesses:). I love to watch the opening night video and see John's reaction after the shot goes off- in slow motion. It's priceless!
Also, Courtney pointed out to me that John has something in his pocket that he takes out to knock on the three doors with, to be loud and so as not to hurt his hand, I guess. Then he puts it back in his pocket. Never noticed that before.
How astute! I will have to watch closer the next time. I know JLY takes a pad out of his pocket before he knocks on the doors, and maybe that is when he takes that device out for knocking on the doors also.
I love the trivia! I have wondered about how the actors bare that noise every performance. Ears plugs should have been obvious. I'm wtih you Audrey. His reaction in slow motion is priceless. Ever watched the "Grammy" commercial in slow motion? That's very interesting. lol.
I also never noticed these things. Where can I find the Grammy commercial? I would love to see it. Also, how can I get to see the opening night video? Want to see JOhn's reaction to the shooting scene. All these "nuances" that I haven't noticed! IE
I believe everything can be found on the GILG website...and they have almost everything
Irene, like Tally said. You can find the Grammy commercial on the first column of the GILG website and i believe on JLY's blog. The opening night video can be found on broadway.com I believe. I'll dig up the link for you. Hang on... to what we've got. =) couldn't resist.
here's the link for Opening Night of Jersey Boys: http://www.broadway.com/gen/Buzz_Video.aspx?ci=520911 *sighs* it's wonderful!
Thanks JBfan. I love that link as well. Don't you wish you could have been there? How awesome to see the Jersey Boys and the Four(3)Seasons on one stage.
Oh yeah! I have always longed to go to any Broadway show's opening night. Of course, Jersey Boys was a winner right from the start! Sometimes videos about the success of JB make me emotional because it hits you again and again what an amazing story this is!
