Wow!
I agree...I love Courter but I would have to see his "Crewe". I love his Pesci.
I went back to the show earlier this week to catch Courter -- he's a wonderful Crewe. Lots of shades of Craig Laurie in that he's awful bitchy, but it's an excellent performance on its own. He's probably the most confident Crewe I've seen, almost to the point of arrogance. When the guys decide to leave (after the backing session scenes), he knows they'll come crawling back to him.
Courter's fast, high, but very clear speaking voice as Crewe is almost like that of an old school newsreel reporter (think: Hindenburg broadcast). Sure, it's weird to see a Crewe who's that short, but it still works. Go see Courter!
On another note: Kudos to Quinn VanAntwerp for dealing admirably with a broken stool. :)
I just knew Courter would be a great Crewe. I imagine him to be a bit like John Altieri (may he rest in peace). Craig Laurie's Crewe was excellent and I miss him in the part. I wish he would come back to the show. How was the rest of the cast, Leanna? I haven't seen the Broadway cast in quite a while now.
It's in great shape. I last saw the Broadway production in November and everyone -- especially Andy Karl -- is still rocking it. The performance as a whole seemed slightly less intense than last time, but we were also sitting a bit further back, so that probably influenced my impression, too.
Speaking of Craig Laurie, I saw him walk past us when I was in the standing room line at Book of Mormon a couple of weeks ago. :)
