i personally think ever seat is the best seat because you are allowed to be there and see everything. with the three times i saw JB i sat all over. i sat like 7 rows from the stage, i sat 20 rows from the stage and i sat first row upstairs in the mezz. i think mezz was the best for me because they could pick me out!

Obviously- center and up close is the best. I avoid the seats on the far right because of the spiral staircase on stage...and I did not have a good experience in the Mezz- around Row H (?) because of the railing in front of me that was eye level. Also, if you have a choice, I'd avoid the partial view tickets; which aren't bad, but not a first choice, of course. I haven't minded even the Standing Room Only tickets, but it's hard to see the finale. Actually the floor at the last 5-8 rows levels out it seems and makes the finale a little difficult if you are 'vertically challenged'.

The centrally located "premium" seats go on sale at the regular price (instead of the $300+ price) minutes before the curtain, if they aren't sold. That is ideal if you can afford to wait in line for an hour or more and risk not getting tickets.

Like Liz said, there really aren't any bad seats. After all, it is a small theater.

They also sell the non-premium seats in the cancellation line. I got a last minute $100 ticket, sat mid-orchestra and the view was great.

Good point...I guess the prices of ALL available seats potentially drop somewhat right at curtain time. Since SRO tickets only sell for sold out performances, would those also be held up to showtime? I've only bought SRO tickets when there was no question of a sell-out.

Concerning SRO Audrey, I was at the SRO one time and all the tickets have not been sold yet, but they were sure there was going to be a sell out, so they sold the SRO anyways.

SRO is great as long as you get to the theatre at the right time! And they are only $25.

I agree...of course, center orchestra and up close are the best seats (when I sat in Row D and E, it was amazing and so worth it!), but since the theatre is small, almost anywhere is good. And it is a privilege to be there since tickets can be hard to come by unless you plan ahead or are willing to wait in the cancellation line.

The first time I saw the show, our only option was the partial-view seats in orchestra which was the last row of orchestra next to the sound board. I still enjoyed the show and was just glad I got tickets, but we missed much of the action on the catwalk as well as the billboard signs.

To me, if you're willing to pay for premium seats ahead of time, then you're absolutely guaranteed a fantastic view. But, if you have the time and are willing to take a chance, you can try the cancellation line and save some money.

However, when I went to see The Little Mermaid at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre which is bigger than the August Wilson, I sat in the first row of the top mezzanine and it was great because we were elevated and no one was in front of me to obstruct my view. Although I've never sat in that spot at the August Wilson, that might be another less expensive option.

    Hope this helps!

"Row K, Seat 112, Center Orchestra" was the best seat for my second time watching the Broadway Cast. Of course, when I was in NYC the last time, it was for a happy occasion when I met the US fanbase, Original Four Seasons and OBC Cast, but since I was in Newark, NJ for a solemn occasion this time, I needed my "Jersey Boys friends" to cheer me up, and they did a great job as usual! It was also nice seeing Eric Gutman once again with his portrayal of Hank Majewski, which he also did great with the National Touring cast.

Well I got seats 2-14 Row B in the mezzanine. Any comments? I know someone said not to the right but I hope this is ok. We have so many people it was hard to find good seats. Anyone know what happens on a Thursday night? With alternates etc...Thank you for all your input!

peanut- those seats are just fine! The staircase shouldn't be a problem from the Mezzanine at all.

    Peanut,

Enjoy the show! You'll love it no matter where you sit!

Suggestion: I usually bring binoculars when I'm sitting farther away...they can be quite helpful. Then, you can see every little bead of sweat on their faces, too!

I have sat in the mezz and the orchestra. They are all great seats. I have never sat in the first row though and that would be amazing. I agree with the binos, as you could see their facial expressions, sweating, crying, laughing. Sometimes you feel that you are IN the show!
