WOHOO! I was having second thoughts about going to this because my favorite Les Miz actor could not make it. But this seals the deal. And I'm only 15 minutes from the Bowl (sans traffic, of course.)

This is such wondeful news! I am so thrilled for John. How exciting! Hopefully, there will be CD or DVD of this event. The cast sounds amazing. Would love to see this, especially with JLY and Brian Stokes Mitchell on the same stage. Two of my absolute favorites.

Now that he's been added to it, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a PBS broadcast à la South Pacific. It'd be nice!

And then this will phrase will enter the PBS call center lexicon: "Les Miz in concert...no, not that one, the other one..." ;)

Good news! Congratulations to JLY! And what a cast! Wow!

Did I miss something about South Pacific on PBS?

PBS taped the South Pacific concert with Brian Stokes Mitchell and Reba McIntire. It was terrific!

One more question, and please don't think I'm stupid, but I don't know how events such as these things work. Is this a concert or the actual play?

Note that it's called "Les Miserables IN CONCERT." ;)

    "The JLY one.":D
I hope they do put out a CD (and DVD, why not?)of this. So, I can give my 10th Anniversary Concert CD and DVD a break. :)

Like I said...call me stupid! Leanna, while you were so kind to answer my question, I was on the Hollywood Bowl website and found the answer to my question. Next time, I'll check the website before I type something idiotic :) LOL! It's been an especially long day...

And I'd take Aaron Lazar over Michael Maguire any day. So yay. ;)

bgmiami1...I think I remember seeing something about that on Broadwayworld.com. I must have missed the showing on TV. I would love to see this event, though!

This concert has an amazing lineup. I have to echo what's been said and hope PBS decideds to tape this for Great Performances and release a DVD.

I saw the revival. And I was a Lazar convert instantly.

I (unfortunately?) saw the revival after Lazar left, but I was never a Maguire fan anyway. Haha.

    *drops jaw*

Okay JLY devotees don't kill me, but I really don't know if he can do it. I can't deny the man has a beautiful voice but MARIUS?!

This news is definitely a shocker.

So far I've resisted being the first to say that. LOL.

    Thanks, JBFan! ;)

Holy cow! I just realized, JLY will be singing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "A Little Fall of Rain," "A Heart Full of Love", "One Day More," "A Heart Full of Love".

It will be interesting to see if he uses his falsetto.

    JB Fan & Leanna,

Just remember that in some older interviews JLY says that while in training to do JB he was terrified he wouldn't be able to do the score - and look what happened. I think he can do anything he puts his mind to doing!

I'm stunned. I didn't see this one coming. Les Mis is an absolute favorite of mine. Congrats to JLY. We all know he will pour his heart and soul into it.

Rosie O'Donnell?....not sure about that one.

I've always thought Rosie would be a good Mme. Thénardier, as long as she actually plays the character and doesn't rely on Rosie schtick.

Yeah, maybe you are right. Are you going to the show Leanna?

The funny thing is it's easier for me to imagine Rosie O'Donnell in her role than John in his. I mean, from "Sherry" to "Empty Chairs At Empty Tables," that's crazy! JLY's a baritone w/ a falsetto. I just don't know...
