Title says it all. Who've you seen go on for what roles, and who impressed you the most? :)

Matthew Scott as Tommy DeVito. I emailed him to tell him how much I loved his portrayal, and he was so nice and appreciative. I wouldn't be surprised if he took over the role after Christian leaves. He was also nice at the stage door also!

I don't know if I would say I have a favorite understudy because the one's I've seen have all be great. So I'll just talk about the one's I've seen.

Eric Gutman as Tommy. I saw him the first time he went on in the role and he was hilarous. He's is a fantastic comedic actor. There were a few minor mistakes but he played them off like they were supposed to happen. Now he's going to understudy Bob Crewe, and I'm dissapoined I won't be able to see him perfrom in that role. I'm sure if I did though that I would be falling out of my seat due to laughter.

Miles Aubrey as Bob Gaudio. He is a great actor and has a terrific voice. He made the naive Bob and grown up Bob very distinct.

Steven Goldsmith as Frankie. He is definately one of my favorite Frankie out of the 4 I've seen. Terrific voice, I think his falsetto sounds closest to Frankie Valli. Really makes that connection with the audience and I love his interaction with Jenny Lee when they're doing Frankie & Mary scenes.

Steven Goldsmith is also my favorite Frankie. :) He really made the show so fresh and vibrant.

I was also VERY impressed with Ryan Quinn West's Bob Gaudio!

...and I can't forget Doug Crawford's Mika. Tied with John Hickman's Mika. ;)

Unfortunately, I haven't. Would love to see the Broadway cast but I live in SF and have no idea when the next time I could make a trip to NY will be.

And to add to Leanna, Taylor Sternberg covering the Barry Belson track. Only to see him in that really bad flat top wig they put him in.

Michael Longoria appears as Frankie during the Wednesday and Saturday matinees and does a great job.

Questions: The only NYC cast member who has been at the performance each of the 18 times I have seen the show so far is Mark Lolita. He plays multiple roles including the judge, Gyp Decarlo and others. Christian has only been out once in the 18 times I have seen the show. I know one of the fans has seen Jersey Boys multiple times, with the four original BOYS there each time. These people deserve some down time. It seems as though some of them don't take time off. What's your experience been? IE

Out of the 13 times I've seen the show, I've seen all four regular "boys" on for 10 of those.

I can only answer for the tour, but out of the 12 times I've seen the show, I've had the regular boys in the lineup 9 times. The regular boys were never out or I've never heard that they were out have been:
Frankie - John Michael Dias on his scheduled performances
    Nick - Steve Gouveia
    Tommy - Jeremy Kushnier

Forgot those incidnts that Leanna mentioned below. So I took Chris and Michael off my list to correct it. But besides those completely out of no where incidents, they haven't missed a show.

I think the only shows Chris Jones ever missed was in December or so when he was stuck in a blizzard in NYC, and Rick Faugno had to go on. (I remembered reading that on Eric Gutman's blog.) Michael Ingersoll had to have an emergency root canal at one point, so Doug Crawford went on.

I have only seen it on Broadway, I've seen Michael Longoria as Frankie, Matthew Scott as Frankie & Travis Cloer as Frankie my opinion big tie between Michael & Travis. Travis does a really great job. Dominic Nolfi as Tommy and Matthew Scott as Guadio. Bottom line, these people are so so talented, they could probably do anything!

I have also seen Michael and Travis on for Frankie. In my opinion, I think Travis plays Frankie just a little bit better. When I saw Travis, it was his 4th time on as Frankie but it seemed like it was his 70th.

When i went to nyc: I saw Heather as Delgado. She was great. And also I saw John Leone in Steve Gouveias' roles.

On tour the only understudy I've seen is Taylor Sternberg as Hal Miller, Barry Belson and others. I loved loved loved him in those roles!! His falsetto is soaring and it's so pure. Just beautiful. At the stagedoor he told me that he will be going on as Valli in Tempe, AZ. I think I have a roadtrip coming my way...

I am hoping to see Travis as Frankie. We are going this weekend and I am not sure if JLY will be there on Sunday. IE

I only want to see Peter Gregus play Crewe. His timing is perfect! Eric Gutman's humor comes through so strongly on his blog... I can imagine that he is so entertaining on stage.

When I saw Travis on as Frankie, I saw a little more of the husband and father in the character. When John plays him... let's just say that there is a magnetic performer, (in addition to his phenomenal acting and singing), in that guy!

Irene, why wouldn't John be on for the Sunday performance that you will be attending?

No, LGB, I have not. I am going to the show tomorrow and believe JLY will not be there. Perhaps Travis will play Frankie. I remember hearing from someone last week when I attended the show that John might now be here this Sunday, A. IE

I absolutely love Colin Donnell as Nick Massi. He plays the role so well. Another favorite is Matt Scott on as Hal Miller and others. He plays the role so well, and boy, can he riff.

And by the way, Irene, you're correct - John won't be in the show Sunday.

  22. Dominic Nolfi ( who by the way has a web site http://dominicnolfi.com/) was on for Kris Colman when I saw Jersey Boys, I thought he did a great job!

So, if we had to, don't you think any of us could play any of the parts (that is because we seem to know the script verbatim)?

So what if the title of the show was changed to "Jersey Baby Boomers." IE

Now that I've seen him, I have to add Mike Erickson as Gyp DeCarlo. He is hysterical. With a capital HYS. ;)
