Chris will also be taking time off for his wedding. Not sure when his first day off is, but he returns on October 4 in Tempe, AZ, I believe. He gives a marvelously passionate performance and has a wonderful voice.

I look forward to seeing him in Tampa! I just got tickets for Feb. 16 - hope to meet Irene and her family at that show. I am also taking my friend, who I hope will enjoy Jersey Boys as much as I do.

I saw a clip of the Sherry cast on You Tube...yes, he does have a wonderful voice. They all sounded great!

Chris will be out for his wedding from September 28 through the matinée on October 4th. During his time off, Rick Faugno will be opening the show in Tempe.

Courter Simmons will go on for Frankie for the matinees on Saturday, September 27th and Thursday, October 4th.

I saw JB twice in SF with Chris playing Valli. I saw JB on Tuesday and Thursday nights in Sacramento and Rick Faugno played Valli. Evidently Chris performed at Thursday's matinee. I was very disappointed as the chemistry on stage was not the same with Rick. Chris does a much better job and puts more energy in the show. I thought the alternates only performed on certain nights, but I was wrong.

I think the alternate Frankie is also the first standby.

Does anyone know when the main cast performs in NY? Who is the alternative for Valli in NY and when does he perform?

The alternate on Broadway is Michael Longoria. His site tells you when he goes on: http://michaellongoria.com/

Yes, the alternate Frankie is also the first cover (and standby) Frankie -- it's the same in the Chicago cast. John Michael Dias goes on if Jarrod Spector can't.

Leanna, thanks for the information. I want to see JB on Broadway, but wasn't sure what night/day to get the tickets for.

Just because you didn't enjoy Rick Faugno's Frankie doesn't mean the same will necessarily happen with Michael Longoria.

I saw "JB" in Sacramento last Sat. (9-22)and Chris was on as Frankie. This was my first time seeing it and it was great! Even tho. I hadn't seen it before, I knew about every bit of the play from comments on this board, TV clips, letters from JLY (answering questions, etc.) Our friends who we went with thought it was dynamite, also! I bought a program and it has the Broadway Cast in it in various scenes from the play, which delighted me no end!! Believe me, this is taking nothing away from Chris cause he was wonderful, but after watching DVR recordings of JLY and Jarrod on Sunday, JLY is the BEST and Jarrod is a close second in my (& my husband's) opinion. Question - in the Broadway production do they sing "Oh what a night" after the final "who loves you" curtain call number? Now we have to see John & Jarrod - :)!!

Yes JanHaas, they sing that at the end. You will love JLY, I have only seen the other "Frankie's" on You Tube or T.V. But seeing JLY on stage is something you won't forget. He is "Frankie" for me...

Thanks Leanna and jojen! Sorry I can't be in NYC to meet you all for the big event. As I mentioned to Irene, it's not the cost for me.........the timing is just not right!! Oh well, at the right time it will happen one day!! Until then, this board is great!!

Chris Jones and his first alternate, Jarrod Spector are great "Frankies" and totally made the tour's popularity skyrocket, then when Jarrod was picked to lead the Chicago cast, he had two John Michael's, Dias and Coppola, and Steven Goldsmith, as his alternates. In NY, John Lloyd Young has Michael Longoria as his alternate, but since I am not local to that region, I'm not sure who the other backups or swings are that portray "Frankie".

Due to my own fundraising (thanks, John Lloyd Young & OBC for the donation!) drive, stage crew and concerned parental duties to help my son's drama program and fall musical, I sent my regrets to Irene that I would not be able to attend the 8/21 bash in NY. It would have been nice to enter my old stomping grounds once more in NY/NJ and meet all of the other Jersey Boys fans that share the same love of the play and more.....

On August 16th, it was great attending the show with Irene Eizen at the Curran Theatre because we were able to differentiate both the Chicago and Broadway "way" of performing the Jersey Boys play and I was not surprised at all. Every actor/actress has their own style and all three casts have their own identity, so it was nice that Irene pointed out scenes where the OBC did or said something differently.

Sorry I won't get to meet you on Oct. 21st, Mike--maybe you can still break away for a day or two...

Travis Cloer is the other alternate to JLY in NYC, and does a great Frankie. He sure can sing.

Howard: It would definitely be great to take a short trip to NYC again! I know that Daniel's contract is up in early 08 and I really want to watch the OBC, meet the cast I know via DVR, e-mail and snailmail, and also meet my friends & fellow fans back East..... I hope to plan something soon!

Thanks for the info on JLY's other alternate! I've received quite a lot of signed August Wilson Playbills from JLY that I've never fully read the bios or articles inside..... Just admired the autographs on the outside covers.

Correction - Courter is going on for Frankie on Saturday the 29th, NOT the 27th, which is a Thursday...

I've seen Chris Jones three times. He is amazing. I really want to see the OBC, and I'd love to see Jarrod Spector, but Chris is wonderful. He always sounds amazing, but in Fallen Angel, when he's singing "Ang" it is just so incredible. And I still get chills just thinking about Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You. He's a really great actor and singer. I'm going to see Jersey Boys again November 23 in Costa Mesa. I can't wait! It's funny. I'm taking a friend whose last name is Delgado.

Thanks for posting that, Mrs. Valli. Taking nothing away from the other Frankies, who are tremendous, I sometimes hear that Chris doesn't look enough or sound enough like Frankie, and that he's not Italian. I actually loved his performance too, particularly his passion and his voice, and I'm not sure that an exact clone of Frankie is necessary for the show to work. One change I would make, though, since Chris is my height (5'9"-5'10"), I would take out the "and TOO SHORT" line when he makes his entrance.

Wow---we now have Mrs. Valli and Mrs. Delgado. Who's next, Mrs. Sedaka?

I think Chris is terrific. Yes, he's a little tall for Frankie but he is such a great actor you hardly notice because you're too busy watching him perform. I agree, Mrs. Vlli, with his renditions of "Can't Take My Eyes off Of You " and "Fallen Angel". Very very moving.

Howard, I have been saying the same thing as you for quite some time. The "too short" line doesn't work with Chris, Dominic and certainly not with Matt Scott who is undoubtedly the tallest Frankie. The other guys can pull it off, though.

Chris is a relative amazon at 5' 9", but until I saw other Frankies, I didn't realize this was a "problem." Or maybe it really isn't one. ;)

Gary, Matt Scott is also 5'8" or 5'9", and I think Dominic is a hair taller that him. But since they were/are covers, it makes sense that they are taller.

If Erich Bergen remains in the Sherry cast, everyone will be considered short standing next to him. LOL. I think he is 6'4"
