Jersey Boys opens tonight in Dallas. Can't wait to see the first responses from the Dallas attendees. Only 24 days till I see the finale in Dallas.
JERSEY BOYS DALLAS(74 posts)
Just heard from my sis in Dallas who said the boys are going to be on Good Morning Dallas. She will tivo it. I am off tomorrow am to see the show tomorrow nite. New Jersey Lasagna is going tonite, right? I will write in after the show.
Actually, it's Good Morning, Texas: http://www.star-telegram.com/125/story/775964.html
(I checked WFAA, which airs Good Morning, Dallas, and they strangely had no search results at all for Jersey Boys.)
Question for my in the know Dallas folks. I have only been in Dallas a few times, years ago and never drove myself. I have the directions from Houston to the show location, but was wondering if there was any place in particular that would be good to spend the night. I do have reservations at one of the Best Westerns that is supposed to be 2 miles away from the fairgrounds.
Lot's of great popular hotels near Fair Park..most major hotel chains are located nearby..always stellar service at the Adolphus, Westin, Crescent, Mansion at Turtle Creek, Sheraton, Indigo, Hyatt & Fairmont to name a few..all within 2 miles..leave extra time for travel/parking due to construction delays in the area.
Valet parking is $15.00. Stage door is located on the Parking Lot side. Attire at Music Hall ranges from shorts & tee shirts to tuxedos..only in Texas!

Call 214.413.3940 for your reservation and ask for "Justin"...he is awesome & I let him know the JB Fans are on their way!
Gad - now I AM hungry! Thanks NJL! We are only going to be there the one night and be spending most of the day at the theater. I think I will just keep the Best Western reservations. I just wanted to be close enough to get there easily. Sound like a great place to have dinner on Saturday evening before the show. I will definitely plan that for the 16th of August.
The area directly near Fair Park isn't the best in town, but if you are 2 miles out you should be closer to downtown, which is good. I've never eaten at the Music Hall restaurants, but it sounds delicious :)
I'm pumped only about 5 1/2 hours to go! I'll be sure to give a report :) I'm so excited that my brother will finally be seeing the show. He is a professional musician and ever since the first time I saw the show I have been hounding him about how much he NEEDS to see this show. I see so much of him in it.
Have a great time to all my Texas JB friends. IE
OK, back from Opening Night. As always, a great show. There were a few mic problems, but that's kind of to be expected at an opening I suppose. Great audience reaction and interaction. Everyone was into it and having a great time. Really only one stand-out performance for me. I was very pleasantly surprised by Andrew Rannells as Bob. I was skeptical from pics and the interview I watched this morning on GMT just because I didn't see the look as being very Bob, but I take all those thoughts back. He really puts in a great performance and had some different deliveries than I've seen from others that I really liked. And what a voice...Cry For Me was awesome.
I have to say though, Vegas is still my favorite. If you haven't been...go now!(I have to admit my heart sunk a little when I realized they wouldn't be rising out of the stage for Ragdoll at the end :( )
Well I loved the whole touring cast. Especially Andrew Rannells as Bob and Erik Bates as Tommy. Steve Gouveia does Nick Massi with class. I do know that when I saw them here in Houston the first time they were a little less relaxed. I think they need to get the feel of the local audience and the stage, etc. You are right about his Cry For Me - Wow! Well I can't wait to see the guys again. I loved the London Cast and I can't wait to see the show in NY.
Andrew Rannells makes for a GREAT Bob. His facial expressions are priceless. How was Joe Leo as Frankie? I can't wait to see this cast for the Toronto opening August 21st.
I can want to see Andrew again in Dallas, plus he is a great "hugger".
Dallas Summer Musical ticketholders...you will not be disappointed while this production is in town!
The Opening Nite performance of Jersey Boys was awesome! There were only a few empty seats visible at the Music Hall at Fair Park; our seats were in Section D Center Orchestra Row C.
I circulated a lot of JB Fan cards to the crowd...hopefully we get some new JB Family members bitten by the JB bug to join us!
The boys...** Joseph Leo Bwarie ** Erik Bates ** Steve Gouveia ** Andrew Rannells...along with the entire cast literally rocked the house! I was unable to say hello to the cast at the stage door...had business clients in tow...but will definitely be there after Saturday's performance.
If you are in the DFW area...this has to be on your MUST SEE list before it leaves on 16 August.
Have a good opening guys!
Whoo hoo! Thanks NJL...looking forward to seeing you on August 16th.
Hi Friends- A bit bleary-eyed from last nite at the Dallas Music Hall. It is a beautiful theatre and the show was awesome. Each time I see it (this is my 8th) I see new things. Still crying at Fallen Angel and chills in CTMEOY. The guys were great. Lots of chemistry and I am amazed how fresh they keep it. First time to see Joseph Leo Bwarie and he was amazing. Love the way he "grew" in the role from the young kid to the mature man. Everyone was up and dancing at the end. Once again JB rocked the house. Hung out like a true groupie at the stage door and chatted with the guys. Smoking got in the way.
Took an hour to get out of the parking lot. Who gets to sit in the first 3 rows in front of the orchestra seats?????
one more very important thing to add. I brought my girls for the first time. I had discussed the language and four letter words. They loved the music and know all of the songs. At the stage door Jennifer told the guys they owed her lots of money for using four letter words. The consequence of using four letter words in our house.
Texasgal, that is so cute. I bet the guys got a kick out of your daughter!
NJL and TexasGal - thank you so much for the updates. I just can't wait to see them. I have a couple of things I am going to here in Houston - Saturday comedian Lewis Black, the 31st "Forever Plaid"....but....I am just so excited about seeing the guys again that nothing will satisfy until then. Thank you so much for keeping us up with the tour group.
Ha ha ha ha Bates said, "It's a metaphor."
Thanks Leanna - great to see the guys, but another terrible interviewer. Where do these folks come from? Also - I sure wish they would film the tour and use that as the video they show. It would give those of us who love these guys a real kick.
Thanks again for finding these things for us.
I wonder if they really are going to do a new B-roll now that the entire lineup of leads in the Sherry tour is different. I admit guffawing at the sight of the OBC.
Philly, I thought you loved ALL THE CASTS, and we should love the show and not any particular cast.
Just reminding you what you are always saying.
And for good measure:
Tally - here we go again! I think that when they show the Chicago show they should show the Chicago cast, Las Vegas - the Las Vegas Cast, New York - the New York Cast, London - the London Cast. Why not have a shot of the tour group for the tour location websites. I do love them all!
I agree Philly, I'm always annoyed by the commercials featuring original casts of any show any time a tour comes to town. It's kind of false advertising :)
And they do show Vegas tape when they interview the Vegas cast, and I believe I saw Chicago tape when they interviewed that cast, so why not a tour tape? Seems like it couldn't be that difficult to make a new one.
I was just sitting here thinking about how this blog has gotten to me. First - thanks to all who have supplied me with the great videos and information about the Jersey Boys show(s). Thanks to all of you who have shown me friendship and patience. I find it funny that JoJen wondered why I thought I was being targeted - here you go - as soon as someone found something they felt they could call me on - ZING! Imagining things - I think not. Again, thanks to all of the friends I have met on the site and I hope you all enjoy the Jersey Boys for many many years to come.
I honestly believe that the Jersey Boys producers use the OBC commercial because it is very expensive to re-tape it, over and over again, and when that b-roll was shot, it was of a much higher quality than any of the tours b-roll. I have a hunch also, that because they can easily sell the show with that ad, why fix what ain't broke?
and, Phiilly, just ignore me...I am not that much of a bully!
I love seeing the OBC commercial. When we were in vegas, it played everywhere. It's like seeing the soundtrack come to life. It always brings a smile to my face.
