Everyone please take care with yet another storm threat. My boss and 4 others have just been sent from Houston out to San Antonio - just in case. Keep safe everyone.

I think that we are suffering from hurricane preparedness fatigue (HPF) Just did one more trip to the store for water. This is really getting tiring for everyone. Did anyone ever read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf?????

We have had several of those here in Florida...best to be prepared, tho. I have relatives and close friends in San Antonio, Austin and Houston...those of you who live there will be in my thoughts over this weekend...

TexasGal, my sister is going back and forth on whether or not she should buy her daughters plane tickets out of Houston tomorrow. The storm is tracking more north than it was yesterday - what's the talk in Houston???

Frankly I am starting to get nervous myself. If you can leave, I suggest it. We are staying put for now. The talk is the storm may leave us on the "dirty side" which causes rain and flooding. NJL lives on the coast, right? what does she think?

Hi Friends- Things have gotten very serious here in Houston as it looks like Ike will be staring us down tomorrow. We are staying put, hunkered down, water, candles, tuna. If we lose power we will leave for Dallas on Sunday, possibly. Great excuse to clean out the garage to put CARS in it! Thanks for thinking of us. Guess what? No school tomorrow!!!!!

TexasGal, I will definitely be thinking of you tomorrow. My sister went ahead and bought ticket for her girls last night. She called them at 6 this morning and told them to pack and leave for the airport. Thank goodness she did, because I've seen the traffic this afternoon and they may not have made it. I belive they landed in Jax an hour ago. Stay safe!!!

Dear Friends- Irene we are staying here in Houston and have done all we could to protect ourselves and home. Traveling away and then worrying about everything is almost worse than staying in your home. We have supplies. If we lose power and rain starts to subside we will leave maybe Sunday or Monday. Mom is with us and we feel safer together than getting on the road. Charged up cell phones and I cleared out an inner closet if we had to really get to an inside room. The media makes us nutty with all the hysterics. My cell is 281-660-2201. I gave it to NJL and Phillygalg to keep in touch. Love and Prayers, Gayle

TexasGal, NJL, Phillygalg: Will be thinking of you as Ike approaches ... my in-laws in Florida have survived quite a few hurricanes. Sometimes the media does get a little hysterical. You sound as prepared as you can be.

Please keep us posted when you can. Praying for safety for you all. (hugs)

Thank you for all of your prayers. I have phillygal number and sent mine along as well. The wind is blowing, but still sunny. Ran out to get bagels. Essentials. Inner closets are clear. Ready for the next garage sale! Thanks to JB family. Hopefully things will go and pass over and we will have peace. Gayle

I live in Central Florida and about 4 years ago Hurricane Charlie and Francis got our little town of Lake Wales pretty good. We had to get a new roof, new screen cage around pool, lost some trees, went 8 days without electricity and 17 days without a phone. The good news is we all survived but it was certainly scary.

We are all sending our prayers and good luck in your direction. Hope to hear from you soon. Be safe.

    Your JB friends.

You people give me faith in the Jersey Boys Family. I want to thank you for caring about us and sending your best wishes. Getting darker here now and windier. Galveston, etc pretty much flooding as expected. I just filled the tub. Have all my essentials (including ice cream in the fridge...what an excuse for eating it all up when the electric goes). Anyway, thanks again as I have been pretty discouraged at times. Your are all the best!

OK Gladys, please keep us posted. Spoke with Gayle a bit earlier and she tells me you're not in the mandatory evacuation area, so that's somewhat good news. Catherine, glad all are safe. One thing's for certain....we don't like Ike!

Spoke with Howard who made my day and spoke with Gladys who made me laugh. Is this the longest day or what???? Getting windy and clouds are darker. Galveston, which is 50 mi away has flooding and the storm is still about 12 hours out. This group really is a family. Sorry Howard and I lost the signal. Wind. Second the motion, WE DO NOT LIKE IKE!!!!

My best friend from HS lives there...last message..."Wind churning out here now. Should see major issues within the next 5 hrs." That was a little while ago. She is a JB fan - we saw it in NY in June.

I'm starting to get worried. ABC 7 news is making a big announcement on IKE and how strong this storm is. I really am keeping everyone in my prayers.

Audrey, thanks for thinking of me--thankfully, I think we'll be ok in Dallas...I understand Courtney did evacuate so she should be fine too...thinking of everyone else, though and keeping them in my prayers. We've started to see some surge in patients at the hospital (evacuees) but nothing major yet. As a healthcare worker I am "exempt" during emergencies and can help even outside of my regular job, so we're all prepared around here to receive anyone who might need our help--let's hope it's not many, for their sakes!!

I said I wouldn't post here anymore, but my heart goes out to everyone who lives in Texas. The first boy to ever break my heart lives there and I hope he is doing okay. :-/ I hope everyone will get through this difficult time and are as safe as safe can be.

With Ike, remembering 9/11, and the metrolink crash we had here in CA killing 15 so far (amongst other events)all I can ask is... what the heck is going on?
