Boy did I have a crush on you Bob Crewe. Your Dad always tacked pictures and articles attesting to your talents on the wall of his grocery store in Chadwick Beach, N.J. Hope you are healthy and happy. Also, I agree with one of the posters that you should be writing a book of your illustrious life.

Wishing a happy and healthy birthday to Mr. Crewe, and extending a heartfelt thank you for the very large part he played in the success of the Four Seasons and Jersey Boys as well for his other contributions to rock and roll.

Like so many others of “somebody else’s latest hit” (one of my favorite JB lines) that the 4S covered in the early days, I did not realize Mr. Crewe’s light and airy “Lah Dee Dah” from the 4S first album (which goes so well with his other compositions that the 4S recorded in the early days such as “Lucky Ladybug” and “My Sugar”…Confection? Infectious – in a good way!) was a remake of the original by Billy and Lillie until long after I bought that – my first – album. I always wondered about the coincidence that “la dee dah” became the title character’s catch phrase in Marshall Brickman’s Oscar winning “Annie Hall.” Talk about your six degrees of Kevin Bacon; maybe MB was destined to cowrite a musical about the 4S all along…
