Kathryn, you’ll carry the memory of those 39 hours in NYC and “Jersey Boys” for the rest of your life. Forty plus years later, I remember my mother and aunt taking me to “Bye Bye Birdie”, my first show–entering the theater, where we sat, Dick Van Dyke singing “Grey skies are gonna clear up…” and Paul Lynde asking “What the matter with kids today?” Hundreds of shows later, I remember my second show, “Golden Boy”, but couldn’t tell you what the third one was. And I never met the stars and didn’t know that a stage door existed. (In fact, my recollection on exiting “Bye Bye Birdie” was my mother announcing, “Let’s go eat. I’m hungry!”)

Fast forward over 20 years later, when I had my first Broadway backstage tour at the revival of “Gypsy” courtesy of my friend, understudy Jana Robbins. One of my favorite lifetime moments is Tyne Daly coming up to me asking, “Oh, you’re Howard, Jana’s friend, right?” (Your Daniel recognition story brought all those memories flooding back.)

And kudos to you on all the websites, Kathryn. You’ve got a great career as a publicist ahead!

Kathryn, I’m so happy for you that you got to see the show in person. Boy, if you think you were hooked before I saw the show 2 months ago (also my first Broadway show) and met the cast and I’m still playing the soundtrack every morning while I check all the blogs. Now that I know about all your websites, I’ll have even more sites to check! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
