I have now seen Jersey Boys the Movie 5 times and if everything goes ok I will see it a 6th and 7th time this week. This movie is the best feel good movie I have been to in ages.
I am planning on traveling to Boise, Idaho in December from where I live in Oregon to see the National Stage Production of Jersey Boys. I would of love to been able to see John Lloyd Young, but I at least saw him in the movie. The play is going to be my early birthday treat to me, so driving the 250 miles in winter across open range land. Oh yeah you bet your bippy!!!!

The only thing that disturbed me about the artistic license taken with the movie, was when they were talking about going to The Roostertail in Detroit and promoting "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" to radio stations there. They referred to the station promoting it as WJR. The station that Paul Drew worked for was CKLW Windsor, Ontario, across the river from Detroit, like Newark is to NYC. That is the station that deserves the most credit for promoting CTMEOY. They alluded to the fact that people heard the song on CKLW, particularly at night on the East Coast, and called their local stations such as WABC New York and asked why they weren't playing it or requesting the song. But the dialog said WJR. I will have to ask around if Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons also appeared on the "Focus" show on WJR with J.P. McCarthy back then. There is a rather famous picture of Joni Mitchell and then husband Chuck Mitchell with J.P. and later FCC Chairman Jim Quello, the station manager at the time, during that same era, before anyone not on the "Coffee House" circuit had ever heard of Joni Mitchell. The only time I remember Frankie Valli appearing on the "Focus" show on WJR was in 1994, when Frankie announced to J.P. that "December, 1963 (Oh What A Night)" had reentered the Billboard Hot 100! That WAS news to me, but not entirely surprising. For one thing, I'd been hearing the remixed version played on the radio for a couple of years before that, and already had the CD that included it!. But I will research the validity of the WJR reference further, and I will let you know if I find anything out. I don't think this reveals enough information to be a "spoiler".

Well, the Jersey Boys movie has reached my area, and I went to see it today with my wife. As a point of reference, my wife is a much better air traveler than I am, and has actually seen the play more times and in more cities than I have, since it is such an attraction in so many places it has appeared. She liked the Movie better than the Play. She was hypnotized and mesmerized, to borrow some 12-63 (OWAN) verbs. She watched it intently, and found it to explain the story behind FV4S better than the Play does! She absolutely loved it, and she is not as much of a FV4S fan as I am, being somewhat younger than I am, being in more of an Elton John fan demographic. Our friend that we went to see JB with at the Wharton Center with her father is taking him to see the movie today. He is in his 80s and he loved the Play, so it will be interesting to see what they say about the Movie. I found the Movie to be very funny and enjoyable, in addition to the "depressing" moments that some reviewers have zeroed in on. My father in law saw JB in Las Vegas with my wife when he was about 90, and he loved the Play also, and said he liked it much better than "Phantom". Sadly, he is gone now and won't be able to see the Movie with us. The theater was about 3/4 full. The only attendance downside was that almost everyone was over 50. I think if younger people see it, they will like it too. It might be a "sleeper" hit like MEAY. I'm not counting that out yet. I will go see it again!
