Hey, thanks for the shout out, Ted. I had to fudge on the bridge a little to make it work, but like you, I did not notice the similarities between the two songs until recently. (You can get there directly by clicking on my name on this comment). Likewise - and I know you are not a Beach Boys fan - only last week did I notice the striking similarities between that group's "I Get Around" and their lesser-known "Dance Dance Dance."

If you haven't already done show, check out stubbleyou's blog and recorded superposition of Marlena and Sherry. Realize that both were composed by just one Bob- Bob Gaudio. I hadn't visited stubbleyou's blog in a while, and it is quite a treat.

I'd heard of composers making slight variations on previous works in a new work, but for all my piano lessons and theory, I didn't recognize this. Sometimes the notes on the clefs get in the way of you hearing the music...

Remember that the Osmonds were ahead of the curve in their remakes of "C'mon Marianne" and "The Proud One".

While DJs, radio program directors, record company executives and Rock and Roll "pundits" debated about whether the FV4S mid 70s resurgence was for real and/or "relevant", the Osmonds took "The Proud One" to #1 Adult Contemporary and #22 Hot 100.

Remember also that the Osmonds broke onto the Hot 100 with a Jackson 5 soundalike song, "One Bad Apple", and a Michael Jackson solo soundalike by Donny Osmond, "Sweet And Innocent". Erich Bergen is in a "dual relevance" phase.
