It didn’t make the final cut of “Forrest Gump”, Ted; that’s why I was careful to say “in anticipation”. Our Charles Alexander is the expert on Bob Zemekis cutting “Forrest Gump” in the final edit, but the initial deal was to have included it.

I’ve been spending all day thinking of some of the oldies that do indeed have longevity comparable to “Oh What A Night”. There are many I guess, but the ones that I still hear are “YMCA”, “Build Me Up Buttercup”, “I Will Survive”, “Last Dance”, “Wind Beneath My Wings” and yes, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

You know, Howard, I have watched Forrest Gump beginning to end a couple of times and somehow I have missed it. Maybe its edited out of the cable TV versions for time considerations? Anyone know what specific scene its in?

I think the re-releasing of the song (with the new mix) in 1994 in anticipation of its inclusion in “Forrest Gump” helped revitalize it. Ted, would anyone dream it would be this popular 30 years later? The only one that comes to mind is Mama Rose in Gypsy, “I had a dream..a dream about you baby…it’s gonna come true baby….”

Can’t say I care that much for the STYLE. But I guess I’m over the hill.

But I’m sure Howard and David and I were going around imitating the bass guitar riff by the end of 1975. Anybody dare to dream that the song would be so popular this long after 1975?
