Ryan Molloy’s Thoughts on Starring as Frankie Valli in JB

March 9th, 2008

Sara Robertson of the Sunday Sun has a fun interview with Ryan Molloy, who is playing Frankie Valli in the West End production of Jersey Boys.

Molloy, 32, talks about the excitement of playing Frankie Valli and meeting the pop icon, the upcoming Opening Night festivities in London on March 18, and what he’d like to do in the future as an actor.

Here’s a preview of what Ryan told Robertson:

Without a doubt it is the best show I’ve been in. The show takes you to so many different places emotionally and physically and has the most beautiful sound track, not to mention brilliant costumes. It’s a fantastic role for an actor . . . the ultimate job to have. I was lucky to beat everyone vying for this role and I’m really honoured to be playing Mr.Valli.

  1. I saw The Jersey Boys last week in the West End and I was simplybowled over. The fact that the lead star Ryan Molloy even resembles Frankie Valli at the height of his populatity in the 60s and 70s was pretty astounding enough, but Molloy even sounds exactly like Valli and, oh my god, he sings and dances almost the entire show. What stamina! Well, being only 32 years old, Molloy is ypoung but, imagine, HE WASN’T EVEN BORN YET when The Four Seasons were on the top of the charts. He must be a reincarnation! Bravo to you and the rest of the cast. We have you a standing ovation last 6 March and you deserved it indeed!!! Thanks for being such pro’s !!!

  3. Fan-bloody-tastic!!! Travelled up to London from Somerset yesterday to see the Matinee, worth every mile and every penny!! I was completely blown away by the quality of the singing from all of the characters and didn’t realise Frankie Valli had his fingers in quite so many pies, recognised songs from 2/3 eras – Oh What a Night! was my favourite before the show but now it has to be Fallen Angel – you couldn’t hear a pin drop when Ryan sang this, only sobs from the audience.

Go and see it, you won’t be disappointed!!!

  4. I saw Jersey Boys last night – what a show. I loved it, the best musical I’ve seen in years. Ryan has a great voice, but all of the main characters are superb and sing extremely well together. Such energy – I really recomend it.

  6. Wonderful show (and lovely theatre) – went to see it on 22 July and agree that Ryan has an amazing voice. Many thanks to fantastic cast and musicians for a great eve – can’t believe how many of the songs my friend and I (both in early 30s) already knew.

  9. I’m 17, and have seen the show 5 times now, with another 2 booked. Not only are the cast amazing, especially Ryan and Stephen Ashfield, who plays Bob Gaudio, they’re also so humble and lovely; even in the rain between shows they stopped for photos and a chat the last time I went. Amazing show, brilliantly staged, incredible actors, and the atmosphere, especially in the front rows, is indescribable. I would recommend this to anyone, as I have already to many of my friends. Counting down til the next time I go :D
