David, I read that somewhere recently where "Jingle Bells" was corrected to "Jungle Bells", but I couldn't begin to tell you where. It was one of those google paths where many "roads diverged in a yellow wood", so to speak. Often I will look something up, and not begin to know where it will lead me. I just checked the 2002 Curb version I have, looking for liner notes, but there are none. I suspect the Rhino version might have liner notes if you have it.

I played the 4 Seasons Christmas Album for the 45th consecutive year now. A tradition in my house as it is in Susie's. Always fresh. My parents enjoyed it (side 1 anyway - the Christmas Carols side of the original vinyl) and now my 5 and 7 year old enjoy it, especially "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" (as does Bruce Springsteen whose version is significantly influenced by it sans the falsetto) and "Jungle Bells" (on side 2 of the original vinyl which contain more traditional Christmas songs including "White Christmas" and the "Christmas Song - Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...").

The album red cover shown above is the 1966 Philips reissue of the 1962 Vee Jay white cover "The 4 Seasons Greetings" album. So the bass voice you hear on "Jungle Bells," Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and "The Little Drummer Boy" belongs to the incomparable Nick Massi.

A question for the 4 Season fanatics out there - the printing I have of the Philips reissue mistakenly lists "Jungle Bells" as "Jingle Bells." On what printing did Philips correct the title of the song back to "Jungle Bells."

"Jungle Bells" was just too cute!

I had never heard this song before; or if I did I definitely did not remember the words!

Thanks again for sharing this album during the "Season"...now for that glass of B&B while relaxing by the fireplace!
