  1. What a darn cool looking pic of the 4 seasons. It’s pictures like this one that would have been so nice to see on their albums in the early 60′s. For some reason they look really cool in a more relaxed setting and would have been great on albums. The beach boys had a few outdoor photos on their albums and they looked really nice and sharp. I just feel the tuxedos the seasons wore at times like on the Rag Doll album didn’t give them the look they needed. Imagine this pic and the seasons holding rag dolls? Would have looked really cool and different.

Well enough of me and thanks again for posting a great pic.

  2. Late October, back in ’63, as the last Vee Jay single waned before recording “Dawn (Go Away)”, “No Surfin’ Today”, and the Larry Santos back ups (“Don’t Pick On My Baby” was one), and the label search and change to Philips. Sweaters and leaves tuning brown are clues.

  3. Later in the year than I thought. Probably late November. Note that the flag is at half staff.

And what is the small image of a twentysomething girl wearing sunglasses just to the right of Tommy DeVito’s head? A reflection of someone in the camera lens?

As they say, every picture tells a story.

  5. I’m skeptical when people try to read something strange into these images in other pictures, but what it looks likes to me is a small reflection of a 20ish girl with shoulder length hair, sunglasses, and wearing a grayish top, most likely from someone standing next to the photographer and reflecting off a camera lens surface, extending from the top of Tommy’s left ear to the top of his head. I’ve tried looking at it several times to see if I still perceive it the same way, and have expanded the picture, and it always looks the same. I guess it could be a double exposure, but then I would expect to see other things in the picture.

  6. I think it’s Lorraine. He just couldn’t get her out of his head.
