Certainly, WLAM is one of their best. But there are so many great ones, I have a hard time picking favorites. And they vary over time. Another site was brought to my attention this evening about “B Sides That Were Better Than A Sides”. Another list with no FV4S. Again, I can’t be forced to choose, but “Silence Is Golden” is probably the closest B Side. An inspiring single, as “Rag Doll” inspired Billy Joel to write “I Love You Just The Way You Are”, the last line of the song, and The Tremeloes had a HUGE hit with a high quality remake of “Silence Is Golden” in the UK and the US in 1967.

This was the very first song I heard from the group back about this time in 1963. I was 11 going on 12. My brothers and mother always had the radio on listening to Elvis, The Everly Brothers, Neil Sedaka, etc. , whatever was on the radio. I had never heard a sound quite like this come from the radio at my early age. And I really liked it. A few months later in June right in time for my 12th birthday, my older brother bought me the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” album. I played it until the grooves were almost gone. I still have the album as well as all of the other albums, tapes, cassettes and CD’s from the time. The next year, 1964, I would get to my very first Seasons concert with all the Original Seasons at the CYC in my hometown Scranton Pa. The place was packed and they dimmed the lights. You could see someone with a flashlight guide the guys to the steps and they walked up to the stage.

Anyone see NBC Today’s Freebie Friday with Nick Lachey this morning around 9:15/ 9:20. I didn’t have sound but they kept holding up the JB music book and seemed to be giving it away. The question is…as part of what promotion, I ask.
