Who is this? Are they girls? Is it a black group? The harmonies were so different. Strong, strong falsetto. Great shuffle beat.

I mean, compared to the other top songs at the time (Sheila, Locomotion, Roses Are Red etc.)it was so different.

OK, great song, great sound…would we hear from this group again??? Then came “Big Girls” which was even bolder and tighter. The formula was established and I’ve been hooked ever since.

The song was an instant hit and today still brings back those wonderful and vivid memories.
