Actor Tom Fiscella, who plays Gyp DeCarlo in the JERSEY BOYS national tour, is a Detroit-area native who is enjoying some time back in his old neighborhood! Check out snapshots of some features in local papers!

HometownLife.com: Or that his family’s Italian heritage and New Jersey roots would serve him well in Jersey Boys in his multiple roles as Gyp DeCarlo, a nightclub and bowling alley owner, judge and record executive.

“Some of my dad’s friends knew Frankie Valli growing up,” Fiscella said. “And crooner Jimmy Roselli was a distant cousin who sang Italian love songs in the nightclubs that my character, Gyp DeCarlo, actually owned.”

Fiscella is particularly looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and revisiting some old traditions, like attending this year’s 89th America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van. He plans to watch some of his Jersey Boys cast mates open this year’s parade with a live performance from the WDIV-TV (Channel 4) TV zone prior to the parade’s travel down Woodward Avenue on Thanksgiving morning. WJR-AM (760) will also broadcast live from the parade route.

TheOaklandPress.com: Already a seasoned actor himself, the Southfield native and Birmingham Seaholm graduate didn’t just love the show about Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. He saw a place for himself in it.

“As I sat there in the seats I thought, ‘I really need to be a part of this,’ and I saw the role I could fit into and made it my mission to get involved with it,” recalls Fiscella, 47, who’s part of the “Jersey Boys” second touring company, playing Gyp DeCarlo, the benevolent mobster who provided financial and other assistance to the Four Seasons in their climb to stardom.

“That’s the role I knew I could fit into,” Fiscella says by phone from the company’s recent stop in State College, Penn. “I could kind of sense the Gyp DeCarlo part was what I could do. If I was 10 or 15 years younger I could’ve played the Tommy DeVito part.
