Chris Jones and Jenna Coker Marry Tonight in NYC

Tonight, at the renowned Taj Lounge on W. 21st Street in the Chelsea section of New York City , Jersey Boys’ very own Christopher Kale Jones and Jennifer Marie Coker (Fame on 42nd Street, Evil Dead the Musical) married. The bride was smashing and the groom strikingly dapper. The Jersey Boys family was represented by Craig Laurie, who plays Bob Crewe in the SF/Chicago tour, and with whom the couple starred in Grease.
The Taj Lounge is a wonderful blend of style and substance, perfect for our handsome couple. A large, modern space is accented with a mahogany bar, carved teak screens, sandstone statues and sexy lighting, most of it imported from India. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere had the perfect ambiance.
How Chris and Jenna Met
Chris and Jenna met in the summer of 2006 when they were both in Grease in St. Louis . Jenna played Frenchy and Chris, Doody. As Jenna tells it, the sparks flew from the very first day they met. Then, as time passed, they discovered they shared the same faith and understanding of each other’s career and life goals. But realizing being on location was too much of an idyllic situation, Chris and Jenna saved pursuing their relationship until they were back in their “real lives” in New York. They returned to NYC and didn’t communicate for two weeks, when they realized they couldn’t live without each other and met at the Chelsea Grill at midnight on September 4, 2006. And the rest, as they say, is history.
The Proposal
The day began with Chris and Jenna taking an hour-long helicopter ride around Oahu in Chris’s native Hawaii . Chris took Jenna for a tour of his middle and high Schools. They then went ice skating (yes, in Hawaii !)
Chris and Jenna then rode around Oahu in a 2007 Mustang convertible with the top down. They drove higher and higher into the mountains, finally reaching a “Heiau” (an old Hawaiian spiritual site), sat down on some rocks, and took pictures of the sun setting.
Chris suggested he and Jenna pray together, asking that he be a loving husband and for God to guide him in the most important question of his life. Chris then got down on one knee and said to Jenna… “I have spent the day sharing my past, you are my present, and as the sun sets, you are my future.” And Jenna’s response…well, we all know what that was!!
Chris and Jenna spent the remainder of the evening taking a romantic walk on Waikiki Beach and came back to their hotel room, which Chris’s brother Mike had decorated. Champagne , chocolates… and the happy couple, along with Chris’s family, toasted their life together.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! When I saw Chris a few weeks ago in Sacramento he completely lit up when I asked about the wedding. He and Jenna are so adorable together and I wish them nothing but the best.

Great coverage of their wedding! So that’s what Craig mentioned to us backstage when he said he’d be visiting NY to attend a wedding before zipping off to Chicago for rehearsals.
