sorry I started a bit of an aurgument here guys. I fully understand the points made by Jerry but at the same time you do not want it too polished either. Remember, this started with kids on a street corner, nervous as all get out, stiff as a board on TV shows and performances.
If it is felt we have to go with ” real ” actors so be it, just PLEASE, do not make it like Mary Anne mentioned with mama mia and the other movie to this day that drives me nuts, grease. It was too hokey and I have never watched the entire movie to this day. If it is on TV it is on until Frankie finishes singing. Tried to watch the ending but the flying car bit again ,well just my opinion.
Believe me, there will be no complaints about how this turns out, I am just happy than a pig in you know what the 4 Seasons finally get the recognition they deserved many years ago. Oh and if I had to chose a Bob Crewe actor, Neil Harris or Jon Cryer

I have been around a long time and I know the film business. The MamaMia movie is a good example of poor casting, which makes my original point.The Jersey Boys film must NOT copy the Broadway production!
If you use stage actors, it will most-likely turn into a CARICATURE of itself! Some of us who’ve “been around the block” a few times understand these things.

Give me a break… Who knows this show better than anyone? The actors who have been living with it! Some of them have been with the show since Lajolla. Please include the touring company and my favorite the Las Vegas company!!! Talk about cartoon… Did anyone see the MamaMia movie ? One male actor who couldn’t sing ruined the whole thing but oh by the way he was a big name! Nuff said! Give me Travis Cloer and his cohorts any day!

There’s a BIG difference between stage performers and film actors. While the Broadway production of Jersey Boys is flamboyant, the movie must take a more dramatic, artistic turn. Casting for the Jersey Boys movie will be crucial, as it may make or break it!
Anyone with experience in the film industry knows that stage performers (especially musicals) appear ‘cartoonish’ on film. There are exceptions to the rule, but it doesn’t seem any of the stage actors in Jersey Boys would enhance the film. They are two different mediums.

Well said Bob. Let’s reward the talented hardworking actors who’ve made Jersey Boys a worldwide hit. Several of them have screen experience already as well as huge fan bases across the country. I don’t want to see a ‘movie star’. I want to see the real Jersey guys and gals in this movie.
