Jersey Boys Closes in Chicago January 10

News from Heidi Weiss, ChicagoSunTimes.com: The Chicago production of JERSEY BOYS announced that its final performance will be on January 10, 2010. By the time the curtain falls, the show — which began as a limited engagement at the Bank of America Theater on Oct. 5, 2007, and became a “resident production” on Feb. 27, 2008 — will have played 951 performances in Chicago and attracted more than a million theatergoers, setting four box-office records along the way.

The Chicago company will not move on, though some cast members might land in other companies of the show down the road. The Broadway and London editions of “Jersey Boys” are still going strong, as is a national touring company. There also are productions in Las Vegas, Toronto and Melbourne, Australia.

The production now stars Michael Cunio as Tommy DeVito, Michael Ingersoll as Nick Massi, Dominic Scaglione, Jr. as Frankie Valli and Shonn Wiley as Bob Gaudio.

Seeing the Chicago production over the summer was one of our most memorable experiences as JERSEY BOYS fans! If you get a chance between now and January, please check out this spectacular cast before they leave the Windy City!

  3. I’m in total shock that it’s happening. Of course I had an inkling that it was coming, but the idea that it’s leaving just makes me really sad. It’s a sad day.

  4. Ditto — shock but not completely unexpected. It will be a sad day in part because of the loss of more chances to see the show — will really miss the connections to so many of the great cast members. It will be interesting to follow some of the outstanding success I’m sure will be facing these fantastic cast members in the future.
