Jersey Boys Fans Celebrate the Holidays in NYC

December 23rd, 2007

By Pamela Singer, Jersey Boys Blog Special Correspondent

You know you’re a Jersey Boys Fan when…. you brave wind, snow, and rain to mingle with fellow fans in New York.

Last weekend, twelve intrepid fans–Pamela, Howard (in his Larry King holiday suspenders), Gary, Audrey, Jody (with some beautiful trinkets for all of us), Charles, Harry, Ed, Dina, Lucy (from Texas), David (from Washington), and Kathleen–battled the elements and met for a fabulous brunch in New York City. Wanda, Norene, and Jon were unable to come due to the weather, but were with us in spirit. And of course, Irene’s sweetness resonated throughout, thanks to her lovely gift (See’s Candies) and a special phone call.

We came from near and far to commiserate about one of our favorite pastimes (Jersey Boys!) as well as to celebrate friendships, both new and old. Some of us were meeting for the first time, while others were already old (figuratively, not chronologically) friends. We gathered at B Smiths Restaurant, a bastion of Southern Hospitality, charm, and cuisine. (Howard—forget the lettuce and tomato diet here!!!)

Lots of laughs, sharing, and warmth ensued. Our group was graced by the lovely, sunny presence of Jennifer Naimo, who added her own unique charm and grace to an already outstanding mix! In typical Mary Delgado fashion, she mandated our going around the room introducing ourselves and where we were from. Jen then proceeded to honor some requests for her next Cabaret show at the Laurie Beechman, now slated for January 29. The most humorous part of the brunch was our wondering whether her signature “Movin’ On Up” was meant for George and Weezie Jefferson or for our own Gary Neuberg, who recently “moved on up to the East Side”; of course, the definition of “sky” for Gary is third floor.

Some of us went on to enjoy the matinee performance of Jersey Boys, always a fabulous experience, and we all met afterward at the stage door with our favorite cast members, who as always, didn’t leave until every autograph was signed and every picture taken. Thanks to everyone for coming and making this such a special experience. We’re already planning our next get together, tentatively for January 6, 2008.

Thank you to Pamela for wonderful coverage of last week’s Jersey Boys’ fan holiday brunch. Check out the JBB Forum for upcoming fan get-togethers!

  2. How lovely. Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I have trouble finding people who share my love of the show and also want to talk about it non-stop. How do I join your club?
