Jersey Boys Is Brilliant at The Benedum!

September 12th, 2012

Another rave review for the JERSEY BOYS second national tour production in Pittsburgh! Check out an excerpt form Chris Bondi’s write-up:

The performances are off the charts (no pun intended). Brad Weinstock channels Frankie Valli and recreates his trademark vocals to the point that it’s easy to forget it’s not the real Valli on stage.

Jason Kappus as Bob Gaudio starts out sweetly innocent and, eventually, is transformed into a shrewd artist and businessman who steers the group creatively. He, along with Valli, eventually takes over the group following the failures of the conniving Tommy DeVito, played brilliantly by Colby Foytik. Brandon Andrus lends a touch of deadpan humor to bassist Nick Massi and offers up the night’s best one-liner (an amusing reference to the Beatles).

However, the show really comes alive when the group performs the signature songs of the original Four Seasons. Audience members, young and old, were constantly brought to their feet following many of the musical numbers and even applauded upon hearing familiar song chords and lyrics.
