Jersey Boys Natl Tour Delights Dallas on Its Return!

December 20th, 2015

The JERSEY BOYS national tour is rocking Dallas through 12/27/15 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center! Check out sneak peeks of rave reviews:

Examiner.com: Stellar performances by Barry Anderson who plays Bob Crewe (loved his special flair), Aaron De Jesus who plays Frankie Valli (De Jesus nailed “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”), Drew Seeley, who plays Bob Gaudio (swoon), Keith Hines who plays strong, tough but sensitive Nick Massi, and Matthew Dailey who plays Tommy DeVito (yes, that Tommy DeVito – what a Jersey face).

DallasNews.com: Jersey Boys, now nearly a decade old, does a nice job of leavening drama with humor and crystallizing those moments when everything comes together perfectly and magic happens. In one such scene, the group finally finds its sweet spot when Gaudio joins up and suddenly the Four Seasons have their own sound.

They lived a thousand lives, and their music will go on forever. In fact, Valli is still at it at age 81. He’ll perform at Winstar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma on Dec. 31. Jersey Boys should enjoy the same fate, supplying an entertaining and moving look behind the music.

TheaterJones.com: A not-so-small thing, the scene in which Frankie receives a phone call about the death of his daughter Francine, works well because De Jesus takes his time. The pauses, during which the character is listening to what the caller is saying, are long enough for the audience to imagine what is being said. He does not rush them and by making that choice, allows the tension to settle in, and provides a space for the audience to feel it and react. It is a nice acting moment, acknowledged and appreciated.

Moments like that are what make Jersey Boys stand out in the growing sea of jukebox musicals, with a real story of human struggle and triumph, intermingled with that remarkable music.
