Jersey Boys New SF Cast Is a Hit!

May 25th, 2007

San Francisco Sentinel’s Fine Arts Critic, Sean Martinfield’s headline says it all: JERSEY BOYS – Earth Angels invade Curran Theatre!!! Cast #2: Their Eyes Adore You!” Martinfield states,

The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons re-opened Tuesday night at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre with a captivating brand new quartet. The show remains as glamorous and powerful as was Opening Night, 2006. But on with a fresh foursome – Jeremy Kushnier (as Tommy DeVito), Steve Gouveia (as Nick Massi), Drew Gehling (as Bob Gaudio), and Jarrod Spector (as Frankie Valli). The performances are superb, rivaling the original Broadway cast , and warranting a revised release for another Four Seasons. Looking for the perfect gift? JERSEY BOYS can’t give you anything but love. Ba-yay-by!

  1. Once again, Mr. Martinfield’s review of the 2nd Nat’l Cast is spot on! His review of the 1st Nat’l Cast was very informative and I loved it! This review touches on their individual talents and how well they perform their roles to help us warp back to the 60′s and 70′s.

It’s great that the SF Bay Area media is right on top of this Tony Award winning play and letting us know that this is truly “Must See” entertainment. Of course, as both tour groups go on their merry way and visit more cities, the entire US will definitely have their toes tapping and singing “Sherry” in unison!

We’re just blessed to have been the 1st city on the National Tour. Having them extend their visit twice was a treat, and when they leave SF, we’ll always have the Las Vegas cast to applaud and sing along with starting next year.

Thanks Sean for the great piece!

  2. My husband and I go to SF each year on business. It seems as though our trip can now be one of business and pleasure. I plan to see Jersey Boys at the Curran later this summer. Having seen the Broadway show 16 times, with two more scheduled, it will be fun to see these “boys” in SF.

I did notice Jarrod’s resemblance to JLY in apprearance. Jarrod is from “my old neighborhood,” Huntingdon Valley, PA. Might he be named “Man of the Year, 2007?”

Looking forward to seeing him and the rest of the cast.

Have a happy holiday weekend, everyone! IE

  3. I just saw ‘The Jersey Boys’ for the second time in SF on Wed. June 6 as a treat for visitors from the East I wondered about the second cast but didn’t need to. They were equal to the original SF cast and the theater buzzed throughout. I’m looking forward to seeing the cast at Cody’s bookstore in Berkeley tomorrow. I grew up back East and the Broadway theaters were a big part of my life. The Jersey Boys is one of only a few touring companies I’ve seen out here that created the same excitement that walking out of a Broadway production did. SF loves the Jersey Boys!
