Jersey Boys Plays Greenville 7/10-7/21; Check Out Press Previews!

July 7th, 2013

The Tony Award-winning JERSEY opens Wednesday at the Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina for 16 performances through July 21. Check out some interesting interviews in local media with original Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio, co-writers Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, and cast member Nick Cosgrove:

Dan Armonaitis, GoupState.com: “This is not just a bunch of songs with people dancing around,” Bob Gaudio said.

Unlike other rock ‘n’ roll musicals in which a flimsy narrative is built around the songs, “Jersey Boys” has an actual storyline filled with emotional depth and grit. It was written by Academy Award winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo.

“I think how the story is written is key,” Gaudio said. “I could be wrong, but I believe that even if you didn’t know the music or you didn’t really love the music, you’re still going to love the show because it’s so well-constructed, written, staged and directed.”

GreenvilleOnline.com: “It’s not all glitz and glamor,” said Nick Cosgrove, who plays the demanding role of Frankie Valli in the national touring production of “Jersey Boys.”

“It’s a backstage pass to see what went on behind the music,” Cosgrove said. “You get a peek into these guys’ lives.”
