Jersey Boys Rocks in Sacramento!

September 13th, 2007

Richard Bammer of The Reporter states that in recent years “jukebox musicals,” theatrical offerings of a band’s or composer’s catalog, have largely failed. But Jersey Boys, while falling into this generally questionable genre, is a jukebox musical with a compelling backstory that not only props up the music but also takes the audience on a credible journey, with a real beginning, middle and end.

Directed with a loving hand and vision by Des McAnuff, it boasts a surprising amount of infectious charm with its chart-toppping, memory-lane music from the 1960s. But it is the biographical story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons that, by turns, shocks and astonishes time after time and keeps you invested in the onstage action.

  1. I saw the Sacramento show and it did ROCK. I have seen
Jersey Boys 5 times now 4 in New York and once in Sacramento. I love the New York guys so much, but the guys that did the Sacramento show were really good, especially Christopher Kale Jones. When he did the splits the audience really reacted. No matter where Jersey Boys goes it is a hot ticket and usually sold out. If they are coming to a city near you, you must go you will have the time of your life.
