Jersey Boys’ Super Fan!

March 15th, 2008

Looks like in our next Jersey Boys Blog continuing poll, “How many times have you seen Jersey Boys?”–we may need to add the Over 70 times answer!

Rohan Preston of the StarTribune.com profiles Kathy Johnstone, a retired medical professional who lives in Las Vegas, has seen the show “70 to 75 times,” she said. “I’m 58, even though I don’t feel or act it. I have a CD of the play that I’ve not taken out of the car since January ’07.”

Johnstone has seen every company in the production — Broadway, Chicago, Las Vegas and the touring ensemble. She’s coming to the Twin Cities this week to see the show at the Orpheum Theatre, and is considering going to London, where the show opens soon. She may also go to Australia for the Down Under version.

How much does Kathy’s rabid fandom cost? According to Kathy,

“You can’t put a price on something this good,” she said. “When you go into the theater, you leave everything behind. The show gives you an amazing high.”

  9. I have yet to reach 20 viewings (19) so far, but that’s an impressive number for any type of “superfan” for any play or musical! Every Jersey Boys fan, especially Kathy deserves congratulations because we’re what keep the musical afloat and running for as long as it has been.

Thanks also to all worldwide casts, Brickman & Elice, creative teams, Bob Crewe, plus the original Four Seasons for keeping us entertained and happy when we leave the theatres!
