Mark Andrew Lawrence, BroadwayWorld.com: Jersey Boys is thrilling high-energy entertainment. According to Lawrence, at first glance it may seem to be just another “jukebox” show, but JB is a show that balances dazzle with drama.
R. Kelly Nestruck, Globeandmail.com: The Tony-winning Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, now a worldwide phenomenon, hits all the right notes for success. According to Nestruck, the most enthusiastic performance of the night comes from the audience playing … the audience. After certain Four Seasons “performances” – their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, for instance – the house lights come up slightly, and every time the audience absolutely erupted. The reviewer notes that he has rarely seen such a near-nuclear reaction from a crowd.
