The JERSEY BOYS first national tour company heads to Tulsa to play Chapman Music Hall beginning June 6 through June 24! James D. Watts has a marvelous interview with Joseph Leo Bwarie, along with a behind the scenes look at what really goes into JB (Did you know there are 609 lighting cues in the show?). Below is a preview:

Over the past few years, Joseph Leo Bwarie has been doing just that, six times week, portraying The Four Seasons frontman in the Tony Award-winning musical “Jersey Boys.” But for Bwarie, having to hit those falsetto high notes that punctuate songs like “Sherry,” “Rag Doll” and “Walk Like a Man” night after night is the least of his worries.

“To be honest, all the yelling and screaming my character does when he isn’t singing is what concerns me the most,” Bwarie said.

“People typically don’t think of performing – any kind of performing – as a sport, but it can be as physically taxing as anything else you can do,” Bwarie said. “In my case, I’m on stage almost nonstop for two hours. It’s like running a marathon – although my ‘legs’ are these two little things we call vocal cords.”
