Jeff Piorkowski of the Sun News has a marvelous interview with JERSEY BOYS national tour’s Frankie Valli, Joseph Leo Bwarie, who talks about playing the legendary pop star and his own debut recording, “Nothin’ But Love”! Check out a preview below:

When Joseph Leo Bwarie was asked if he had heard from Frankie Valli about his portrayal of the famed Four Seasons singer in the musical production of “Jersey Boys,” the young singer stated, “He hasn’t given me a comment. And no comment is good. I think it mean he thinks I’m up to it.”

Bwarie, a Los Angeles native whose first noted singing engagement came at age 9 in a Christmas episode of Michael Landon’s TV show “Highway to Heaven,” knew little about the Four Seasons while growing up. At the same time, he sure loved to sing along with anything that came on the radio.

“I knew the Four Seasons had a lot of great songs and I would sing along to songs like ‘Sherry’ when they’d come on the car radio,” he said.

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs and shopkeepers, Bwarie said he doesn’t know from where his love of singing came.

“I would just sing around the house all day,” he said.

  1. Every time I see JB, I want to stand and applaud after certain (biggest of the big) songs – but nobody else does. I always feel like I am at a real concert at the end of those songs and WHO IN THE WORLD doesn’t stand and applaud at a concert!!!! Do you think I would get thrown out of the theatre? P.S. I try always to sit near-ish center stage, usu. within 15 or so rows. Maybe I should sit back a little ways and I wouldn’t be so moved?
