Magical Musical Evening with The Midtown Men!
October 28th, 2011Hard to believe it took us this long to finally see The Midtown Men in concert, but it FINALLY happened last month at the grand opening of the gorgeous Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins, Colorado! And–this multitalented quartet brought the house down!
Over the summer, our old pals, Jen & Chris, who live in Ft. Collins (and love JERSEY BOYS) called and said, “If anything is going to get you guys out here to visit, it’s going to be on September 17 for THE MIDTOWN MEN!” (Okay, these pals of ours know us pretty well, don’t they?!)
Turns out that The Midtown Men performance was part of the grand re-opening gala at the Lincoln Center. The evening began with fabulous appetizers, cocktails, and mingling before the big show!
The Midtown Men–Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard, and J. Robert Spencer–entered the stage, dressed to the nines in attire that was reminiscent of the Mad Men/Rat Pack era. Backed by a sensational seven-piece band, the four men took the audience on a magical musical ride through the 1960s–with rock, pop, a little folk, and some soul, along with some great storytelling between the hits!
The audience was taken way back to the early ’60s with hits such as “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” to the mid ’60s with an amazing rendition of “California Dreamin’” and later in the decade with hits such as The Zombies’ “Time of the Season.” Music of The Beach Boys, The Turtles, The Beatles, and of course The Four Seasons (Wow! to “Candy Girl”!) were part of the joy of the evening, along with some of the greatest R&B hits of the decade, including “Up on the Roof,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” and “Ain’t That Peculiar”!
The Midtown Men are truly NOT a cover band! These spectacular showmen bring a fresh twist, stamping their own harmony and vocal imprints on the timeless hits of the 1960s!

Wonderful recollections – their sharp attire, the seven piece band, the magical musical ride, the storytelling, the timeless selections – AND the time afterwards getting their CD autographed. I’ve also had the pleasure of it all (except those cocktails beforehand
) Sounds like a fabulous night … one that’s playing out everywhere they perform and hopefully for many more years to come.
