Recap of Broadway 2005—Big Celebrities Came to See Jersey Boys!

January 5th, 2006

Any idea who has earned the title of Jersey Boys’ most devoted high-profile fan? According to Cityguideny.com, it’s Late Show bandleader Paul Shafer, who’s already seen the show three times, including opening night!

Also on hand for opening night were original Four Seasons members Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, and Tommy DeVito—plus Joe Pesci, who grew up with the original “Jersey Boys” and is a minor character in the show. Also on hand was David Chase, creator of HBO’s The Sopranos, along with several of the series’ stars: Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Tony Sirico, Jamie-Lynn Discala, Frank Vincent, and Steven Van Zandt. Other stars attending opening night festivities included singers Neil Sedaka and Frankie Avalon and actors Robert DeNiro and John Lithgow.

While I was in the audience in mid-November, I spotted boxing promoter Don King, CBS This Morning co-anchor Julie Chen, and her husband, CBS Chief Les Moonves. Other big names attending the show have included Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, George Lucas, Olivia Newton-John, Donna Summer, Liza Minnelli, and Quincy Jones.

Did you spot any celebrities when you saw Jersey Boys?
