Steve Orich’s Latest Project
November 15th, 2006Variety’s Phil Gallo reports that former “Frasier” producer-writer David Lee will direct and write a new book for the Cole Porter musical Can Can that will have its world premiere at the Pasadena Playhouse next summer. The creative team will include Steve Orich as musical director and orchestrator, Roy Christopher as set designer, and Randy Gardell as costume designer.
The Playhouse is billing the show as a “re-envisioning” of the 1953 musical, set in a Paris dance hall in the late 1890s. Lee is writing a new book with Joel Fields (“Commander in Chief”) to replace the Abe Burrows original. Can Can will run June 29-August 5 at the Playhouse.
