Forty-nine years ago this month, The Four Seasons released this amazing “live” album, with some great standard songs, some comedy, and a new single, “Little Boy In Grown Up Clothes” that peaked at #60 on the Billboard Hot 100.

To quote Barry Belson in JERSEY BOYS, “I LOVE this record!” Do you guys agree?

  1. Way back when you didn’t make it as a pop group unless you played the Copacabana in NYC. This LP was apparently their nightclub selection of songs to appeal to the “grownups” in the room.

Obviously it’s not “live” but it’s still a wonderful look at how they handled these standards in their own unique style.

They didn’t intend to release this as an lp when it was recorded in the early 60′s and only did as part of their final contractual obligation with VeeJay Records. (They didn’t want to give them anything good, so I’ve heard)

VeeJay did release “Little Boy” as a single and it remains a mystery to me as to when this was recorded as it doesn’t fit the sound, orchestration and arrangements of the other songs.

    Anyone know???
