Variety Reports ‘Iron Man’ Director Jon Favreau Is Frontrunner for Film Adaptation of Jersey Boys!

Jon FavreauRachel Abrams of Variety reports that “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau has emerged as the frontrunner to helm GK Films’ JERSEY BOYS, Graham King’s bigscreen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical “Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.”

GK acquired rights to the project two years ago and set “Hugo” scribe John Logan to pen the script. King and Tim Headington will produce.

JERSEY BOYS would mark Favreau’s first directing gig after a trio of onscreen roles. Multihyphenate will next appear in DreamWorks’ “People Like Us,” which unspools next month, and is currently shooting Disney’s “Iron Man 3″ and Universal’s “Identity Thief.” Favreau also exec produced “The Avengers” for the Mouse House.

Sony will distribute JERSEY BOYS, which Valli and fellow Four Seasons member Bob Gaudio will executive produce. The release date for JERSEY BOYS film is tentatively set for the end of 2013.
