There have been speculations online all day–that DTWS’s Mark Ballas did not return to this season’s Dancing With The Stars–because he is headed to JERSEY BOYS! Below is an update from ETOnline:

Dancing With the Stars fans are pretty bummed that dancer Mark Ballas won’t be appearing on season 23, but ET has learned that Ballas has clinched an exciting new gig!

A source tells ET that the 30-year-old dancer is actually moving to New York City this month where he’ll be living for a year, so that he can appear in a main role on Broadway’s hit show Jersey Boys. The musical tells the behind-the-scenes story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the band responsible for such classics as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man.”

Ballas hinted at his new career opportunity in a heartfelt, handwritten letter to his DWTS fans, which he posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

So, what do you guys think of this news? Do you think the “main role” in JB he’ll be playing will be Frankie Valli?

Can’t wait to see what you guys think of this breaking news!

  1. I thought that the 2 men playing Frankie just renewed their contracts… he looks like a Tommy to me.

  2. I think he will be Tommy. Richard H. Blake is leaving and is going to be in another Broadway show: A Bronx Tale

  6. I hope he isn’t playing Frankie because he would always be second best to John Lloyd Young – no one can approach him. But he could really shine as one of the other guys!!! Would like to have the chance to see him sometime!!

  7. If Richard Blake is leaving, then Dan Sullivan should get the Broadway Tommy role. I live in Vegas and I tell you, it was a HUGE loss when he left the Jersey Boys show here to move to New York. He was the best Tommy EVER!!!! No one does Tommy like Dan. The Broadway production of JB would be wise to snap him up in a heartbeat before he finds something else!

  8. Linda, I couldn’t agree with you more. Dan is fantastic in the role and I was hoping (like you) he would have been approached, however Nicholas Dromard (equally fantastic) from the touring cast posted that he will be taking over the role from Richard Blake.
