Crowd Adored Jersey Boys on Opening Night!

December 15th, 2006

Marin Independent Journal’s Charles Brousse notes that Sunday was nostalgia night at the Curran Theatre. The aging boomers who packed the house for the long-anticipated opening of a show that celebrates one of America’s best-loved musical eras literally “went ape” (an endearing term borrowed from the historical setting) even before their idols appeared…Whether spurred by excitement about what lay ahead, or just because they were feeling good, the boomers clapped, yelled, whistled and stomped their feet. The outburst was a harbinger of what would be repeated many times during an evening that ended in a tumultuous standing ovation.

Please note: The reviewer credits the wrong actor playing Frankie Valli, and according to this review Frankie’s estranged wife dies from alcoholism.
