Frankie Valli’s Chart Topping Hits and the Smash Broadway Hit Jersey Boys

February 16th, 2006

In today’s St. Petersburg Times, Frankie Valli, legendary lead singer of the Four Seasons, talks to Marty Clear about the chart topping hits that people still come to hear, four decades later in concert. Valli also talks about his latest hit–Jersey Boys, the smash Broadway musical based on the story of the Four Seasons.

Valli is touring as much as ever—still singing the songs he made famous—Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Grease—and so many others. “These songs meant something to people. They’ve been a part of people’s lives,” Valli said. “So they’ll still come to hear them when you come to town.” In tonight’s concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida, he says he and his group will play the hits and throw in some new tunes as well. With 65 records on the charts since 1962, Valli says that he and his band don’t have to look much beyond that to put a show together.

The newest hit in Valli’s career is Jersey Boys, the Broadway musical based on the career of the Four Seasons. It has brought new audience members to Valli’s concerts. Valli consulted with the writers, producers and actors involved in Jersey Boys when they were putting the show together. He realizes he is fortunate to be able to participate in the telling of his own life story.
